VUEngine is an attempt to provide other indie programmers the base functionality to facilitate the creation of content for the Nintendo Virtual Boy by taking care of most hardware management tasks to create 3D games with 2D graphics.
Since version 4, the VUEngine was fully integrated and shipped with VBDE. As of version 7, VBDE was dropped and VUEngine became a whole eco system for Virtual Boy game development including a self-contained IDE in form of a Visual Studio Code extension.
