Congratulations Undead. for 999,999,999 in Alien
You not only out-skilled me, but out-assed me (:-).
There is no way I can play a game for 6 days. Even my 379 million drove me nuts, for a full day of “work”, but 999 million? You won. Forever.

A few words about Galactic Pinball. No question it is one of the most entertaining game for VB, BUT……..
It is too easy. In the old days of pinball (50’s, 60’s) typical machines gave 5 balls (later it went down to 3) which was good for anywhere between 5 minutes to 10-15 minutes if somebody was really good. Of course, because it was designed that way, so for that quarter nobody could spend an hour at the table.

Later came the computer games pinball, which pretty well simulated the real thing. And that simulation well included the physicial reality. Among other things, that from the flipper, thousands of way the ball could leave to some direction. And THAT is the problem with Galactic Pinball. The physisic of the flippers are very poorly simulated. I don’t know how many exactly, but in my opinion no more than about 8 direction the puck can leave the flipper. It is weirdly compensated that the given angles are not the same on the left and the right flipper. The wall bounces suffer the the exact same problem. Despite the sometimes complex looking bounce pattern due to the “icy surface”, strong bounces, after multiple bounces the puck ends up in the exact same place. So, if someone plays it a few times, learns the angles and the bounces, it can be played for hours on the 5 puck. Even losing one is usually a slip of attention, not because it is unavoidable.

Back in the old days I was dreaming about a pinball table which mostly depends on skill and not luck. Well, Galactic Pinball fulfills that purpose, but the skill-demand is not very well implemented.

Heck…..forget what I wrote so far, Galactic Pinball is still a lot of fun.

Well, written. I don’t have the patience to play any game for 6 days. The only game I’ve played nearly that long is when I played Ocarina of Time for 3-5 hrs. whenever I got home from school when I was in 4th grade. It took me 3 months total to beat that game. I think I’m going to try and beat the Mater Quest sometime….

Anyways, I too congratulate Undead for his insanely high score. Holy shit.

I like games a lot, but this is ridiculous. I think I could go 999,999,999 on Alien, but 6 days? Give me a break. On top of it, I am afraid to leave on VB, for more than one reasons.
1. It has a moving part (the oscillating mirror) and to leave it on this long surely can’t be good for a part like this.
2. Imagine if after day 4 (for example) there is a momentary powerout and I already had 4 days of “work” in it. It would drive me mad.

That is a very nice score… I haven’t played Galactic Pinball nearly enough to get anywhere near those scores, but I agree that it does seem pretty easy, and the physics are definately nowhere near that of a real pinball. I don’t necessarily think that they were shooting for a real pinball feel though…

Anyway, 6 days is lot of dedication, but I know how that goes… to find out if Virtual Lab had an ending, I played it for several hours a night for 2 weeks. I was VERY disappointed to see that there was no ending :P. Believe me, after that long, it was VERY hard for me to turn the system off.

Hi Undead,

sry for my bad englich i am from Germany

No problem, I am originally a hungarian, but I live in USA for 33 years.

And the 6 days were, I not at one time have only so 1-2 hours on the day played,

I know, that’s how I did my long runs too. But even to sit that long….well….I am almost 60 years old.

True. 999,999,999 is very unlikely with UFO or Colony.
