Virtual Boy LAN connections……help!

i downloaded the vbalink(1.8) so that i could set up a LAN connection and play some game boy multiplayer. and everything was going fine, and it gave me a message saying that i was connected between my 2 computers. but when i went to play multiplayer it gave me a warning about a faulty link cable…..help!!!!
