at first,so sorry for my bad english,i hope anyone understand what i try to say.:-)
My buddy wolfgang,a electronics guru ;-)(thank you!),have a idea for a new fixing method for the led-units of the VB.
He say lets try it with a professional air-solder maschine.
He have one and we try it and it works perfect!
We repair eight units(four vb)and all units work perfect with the first trial.
Step one:
Fix the unit in the litte wood frame(not a beauty but it work)
Step two:
Heading the connection about 6 sec. with a space of about 30mm and swinging the air-solder unit up and down above the connection.
Temperature is about 300 degrees.
Step three:
After heading press the conection with the wood block like hell;-) and wait about 10 sec.
Step four:
I fixe the cable with a litte stripe of scotch tape(its perfect for this)) to stabilize it.
Good idea; I love the use of custom tooling. If I had one of those stations, I’d try to actually solder the cable for a more permanent fix with less chance of damage compared to using an iron. If you have one of those, you probably have some solder paste, too.
BTW, your English is not bad. The only major error is the use of “heading” instead of “heating”.
Nice setup! But as with any method that simply reheats the glue, I think it’s unlikely to be permanent.
I assume the factory knew how to apply the adhesive, and if it has failed once, simply reheating and reapplying pressure to old glue is likely to last even less time than the first.
But, I think people have displays fixed using the oven method still working several years later, so good luck!
