Recently, I viewed a auction for a Blockbuster VB rental unit online. The unit was complete and also came with what seems to be some sort of “checklist”. This checklist must’ve been used to verify if every piece to the VB was still included with the rental unit.

Is this something that Blockbuster included inside the rental cases? Or can this just be something that the previous owner made themselves? I’ve never seen one of these before and the checklist has a very early Virtual boy logo on it.

Anyone here have a Blockbuster rental unit with this “checklist” included?

( the sellers pictures were blurry )

I just put some more thought into this, and perhaps this checklist was used by Blockbuster video employees to check the contents of the rental cases once they were returned after rentals. I dont think it was ever intended to be included with the rental units but somehow this one found its way into one.

I sold a ton of those things on eBay, back in the day, and I never saw a checklist like that, so I assume it was used by employees.

As a side note, one of my hard cases had an interesting attachment on the handle. It was kind of a u-shaped metal plate that dropped into place when you lifted the case by the handle. It held the 2 halves of the case together, presumably in case you hadn’t clamped it closed properly, so the VB wouldn’t fall out and end up on the floor. I only had one case with it – it’s around here somewhere.

Sorry, no pic – my stuff is in storage, pending a move later this month.

I would assume that this wasn’t a universal addition to the case, nothing official. If it had been we would have seen one pop-up before this. This was probably something created by the manager of a specific Blockbuster location. This history behind this particular case is what interests me, and I doubt we will ever know where it came from or who created the check list.

I know what your talking about, pinmagic. My first blockbuster rental unit case had that metal plate on the handle too. It was a black metal bar that would catch the lid if it had forgotten to be latched. I ended up selling mine just a few months after I got it so that I can purchase another rental case with a better sticker on the front of it. If you come across yours during your move, please do share a pic or two of the metal bar for documentation purpose.

Thanks for the input and good luck with your move.

Another BlockBuster VB rental unit checklist.
