Hi everyone! After keeping it under wraps for several years, it’s finally time to publicly announce a VB game project we’ve been working on (and are still working on) called NyghtByrds! It’s a real labor of love that has had many hours of care and attention put into the graphics. In fact, most of that time has been mainly put into making the graphics.
Now I’ve teamed up with Guy Perfect, SonicSwordcane, Arvester and DaVince to form V.O.R.T.E.C.H.S. and take the development of the game to the next level. With it, I have also set up a Patreon so that my hard work can keep being supported as we keep working on it.
We’re really trying to set it apart by making use of what makes the VB so unique: its focus on pixel art while still being 3D. So a lot of that time has been spent learning to make, and applying, actual true 3D pixel art. I’m very proud of the work so far. Here’s a glimpse of some of the artwork that’s been made for it!
(Btw, I use a program called Pro Motion NG to make this pixel art which is specialized in artwork for game consoles and it has special tools specifically for 3D pixel art that I helped make! It’s awesome.)
Our plan is to not only release a ROM but also give it the loving treatment of a physical cartridge with a box and manual. And we intend to make more games after its release, which is why I’ve set up a Patreon!

The NyghtByrds Patreon has reached 12 months now, so we’ve made our latest progress post entirely free – animated imagery included. It comes in three formats: side by side, anaglyph and even an AVI to watch in 3D on an (unmodded) 3DS! This should give you a taste of the progress we regularly post in the backer tiers – so if the project seems promising, please consider supporting our work.
Additionally, we have a new team member onboard for the music – screwy! At this moment, we don’t have tunes that are complete enough to showcase, but new music will also be showcased on the Patreon once ready.
