Decided I would put the good efforts of the community to use and attempt to make my own boxes for my homebrew library. Located a bound high topic where there is a complete box/manual combo…figured I’d start there for my first attempts…

I used a local office max tonprint off 3 sheets at about $1/ea for the box. I used a gloss white, legal sized 100 lbs card stock. This is thinner than I’ve read is recommended but it’s the thickest they had available. Turned out ok overall. As others stated, the standard file size resulted in a box that is slightly larger than standard. I figured this out when I tried to put it into a box protector 😅

Looks good. If you are interested in a better source for starting to do this, I have created and shared a very accurate and quite customizable box template that you can check out here: https://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=7452&forum=1

Surprised Office Max let you do that. Usually they’ll refuse due to the Nintendo logo.

I had read that. I suppose it ultimately depends on who’s working behind the counter. In my case it’s a late teens early 20s kid who doesnt seem to care too much about anything work related 😅 I placed the order online and received a text when it was ready to pickup which maybe had something to do with it. No one there to argue with about the “why” I cant print this for you.

Nice! I will definitely put that to use. Thanks for sharing it!

Also got bored today and attempted to design a 3d printed box for games. I see this in 2 varieties. A stand alone replacement to the traditional cardboard boxes with the ability to slide in a cardboard tray, manuals, other inserts, etc and also a version that will unnecessarily enclose your already CIB game….because, why not? 😅

I saw a facebook ad for a sticker promotion, 10 stickers for $1 + free shipping. I’m thinking a test order of these with some Virtual Boy artwork would make for a nice reverse.
