I recently started collecting these kinds of games after watching some of VectrexRoli’s videos on youtube. I’m only about 3 weeks in, and I already have 5 of them. I plan to collect a bunch of these, as they are really fun to play and are a true blast from the past.
Oddly, I’ve never heard of or played a lot of these games growing up, but they still gave me this strong nostalgic euphoria…
I’m going to collect these only if they are in excellent condition with the manuals and boxes, wich means I’m going to have to buy some more shelves to display them all (my wife is pissed and wants a word with VectrexRoli’s wife :D).
Here, I’ll post some of my favorite ones, along with the box art and manuals and a game-play image. Starting with…
Epoch’s Invader From Space. This game is very well-designed and the actual game-play is on point. Very simple, but plays what it’s supposed to play, and does a really good job.
Love this one!!

I just wanted to leave 3 links here because they feel very on-topic for this thread.

I played a few of these games the other day while standing in line at a mall’s anchor store. I wasn’t impressed. Graphic and gameplay felt like cheap ports. But this Oregon Trail handheld, that has piqued my interest.

There’s even a Tetris one!
They had better still release a proper version of Defender. I’m still worried about that.

The ones available at Wal-Mart are way better than the ones found anywhere else.

Yeah, everyone seems to really like that one. I’ve watched a few videos on it, and everybody has nothing but good things to say about it.
It even made it on an episode of the Ben Heck show, he managed to make it even more portable than it already is…

To be honest…so am I. 😒
So much for that spring release of these Arcade Classics 😕…
But they did release the static screen Tetris, which looks to be pretty darn good for what it is. The music on it is really good too.
Check out this vid and see for yourself…
… I’m definitely impressed!
Here are the latest Arcade Classics:
11) Ms. Pac-Man
12 ) Fix-It Felix
They’re both Wal-Mart exclusives, and therefore they both have the color LCD screens like # 8 Joust and # 10 Rampage.
I’m hearing that # 13 is going to be Tetris, but we’ll just wait and see.
Still waiting for a # 9 to get released…

I got to play Fix it Felix at the arcade in Disneyland just after the movie came out. The cabs were set to free-play. Most kids just walked buy them…. It was strange seeing this as I grew up during the Golden Age of arcades. It was a really fun game. I might have to visit my local Walmart this week and grab one for my desk.
I guess 11 and 12 means there’s still hope for the 9? Or else surely they would have down-numbered one of these to fill the gap.
I missed this round of Ms. Pacs at my local store, but I managed to get their next to last Felix. Looks like I’ll have to attack it old-school and do some store hopping soon.
They finally released number 9 for their Arcade Classics series!
It’s Galaga..
Followed by number 13 DigDug!

So I wonder if this means that Defender will only be available as a cabinet hack.
Do we know if those are in-store yet? I see a few on ebay at inflated prices.

I picked up Galaga and Dig Dug today at a Wal-Mart near my workplace.

I hope not. Hopefully it becomes part of this years line-up, but who knows..
I’m a little upset about them changing the design of the boxes. These new ones aren’t that bad but they really don’t look that great next to the previous ones.

Yeah these are definitely in-store already.
In the spirit of this thread I have a few things I can offer up.
This is just a selection. Image #2 I don’t have Q-Bert anymore. Image 4 got rid of Football. The two coleco’s also have a perma power pack for them too and DK has a manual.
Everything else I do. But I also have far more not seen.
DK Jr Coleco Tabletop
Super Mario Bros Game & Watch
Legend of Zelda Nelsonic Watch
Pac-Man tomytronic tabletop
Club Nintendo G&W Ball CIB
Mattel Electronics Hockey
Tiger Electronics – VRTX Sega Daytona USA
Tiger Electronics – Mega Man 2
Tiger Electronics – Sub Wars
Tiger Electronics – Star Wars Imperial Assault (new)
There’s more modern stuff like a few of those Basic Fun VFD/NOAC LCD games, all 8 of the Tiny Arcade devices, the 10″ Data East mini mame cab. And a atgames/coleco rebranded 30 game Master System/Game Gear handheld.
That’s mostly it not going down the road of clone console handhelds or legit stuff.

Holy cow – I owned Wildfire when it first came out! That’s how old I am!
Honestly I’ve only had it a few years, found it on a flea market table for like $10 and it looked clean enough I figured it worked so I grabbed it (and it does.)
The Tigers, everything you see there, all have been picked up in the last 5 years about. I did have Castlevania, Karnov, MM2, and Baseball back in the day for Tiger. I had the tomytronic pac-man too, and a friend in the early 90s gave me his DK unit which was battered but ran. I also had the Mattel Hockey from an 80s neighborhood garage sale too.
Game & Watch I only really got into about 20 years ago, same with the rest since. I just like grabbing the things when I can as they usually are dirt cheap today as no one seems to like VFD and LCD games. I’ve had more Tigers but sold about 5-10 of them in the last year.
Arcade Classics #15 was released a few weeks ago, it’s Mortal Kombat.
Seems to be a watered version of the Sega Genesis MK, but they removed the blood code.

Once again, there’s a release out of numerical order. This time with 15 but no 14. Smh…

I found number 14 today, it’s another Pac-Man 😂
This time it’s a proper full-color screen version, which is what they should’ve released in the first place.
If they release another Pac-Man I swear…
