Hopefully this doesn’t irritate everyone but there is really nowhere else to ask.

So does anyone know any Hyper Fighting unlock codes or accomplishments you have to do to get unlocks? Or even confirmed existences of unlocks? I am a proud owner of the game and I have played it a fair amount and haven’t found much. I’ve read what seem like uncorroborated rumors online about hidden characters and modes. If anyone has anything to offer and they want me to swear to secrecy you can PM me or email me. I can keep a secret if asked… the person who sold me the game on here knows that, but I can’t provide them as a character reference obviously πŸ™‚

So I was playing the other day as Ben and it seems like your character is a re-skinned Ryu as far as moves and whatnot. Is that true, or do you have any other non-Ryu special moves? I tried a few things but couldn’t get anything to work.

Yeah, my character is essentially a reskinned Ryu.

You are right, it’s definitely a dog, my dog πŸ™‚
I asked Mr. Anon to add him as an easter egg for ROM hackers.
I know that disassembling and analysing a ROM can be time consuming and quite disappointing if there are no secrets to be found.

@thunderstruck

Congratulations for being the first one who found Lucky! I think you deserve a prize. Send me a PM with your email address and I will send you something cool.

Btw. I remember that there were more debug menus which I activated through the emulator. I could for example >choose the stage or select the speed on the figther selection screen. I didn’t make and screenshots though.
I never figured out if there is a button combination to activate those.

That was probably just the selection screen from the VS mode.

BTW, regarding ROM hacking, I uncovered myself a rather big secret in a commercial VB game. By writing a bit of additional code, I was able to get the hidden content working. Considering that the game makes now much more fun, it’s quite strange that this part of the game has been disabled for the final version. I will release a patch in a few days. Till then enjoy the thrill of anticipation πŸ˜‰

Thanks for chiming in with info for this thread! Glad to get some answers straight from the source. Is there anything left to discover in HF, I wonder? Waiting with bated breath for that patch!

Thanks for clearing that bit up, M.K.! That’s a nice easteregg.

Well deserved!

I just wanted to add that I got my price and that I would have never guessed that this is possible. Very cool, thanks allot.

If a second copy becomes available to me (at a fair price), then I will surely buy it as two player would be wicked!

Right now Hyper Fighting is probably my most valuable game.

Same here. I paid a crazy price for the CIB. But I don’t mind, as I know where the money went. And if it’s becoming available more easy soon, I could even afford a multi player copy  πŸ˜€

I’m not a programmer, but I like easter eggs … and THAT was a nice one πŸ™‚

I’ve brightened the screenshot with Ben & Lucky a bit …

I don’t need to know this. I don’t need to know this. I don’t need to know this. Oh come on, please – what is it??
Does it have to do with that hidden content patch?
Pleeeaaase! πŸ˜‰

How much did you pay StereoBoy?

I paid around $85.

Wow – that must be some days ago …
Actually, I’m ashamed to tell … πŸ˜‰

It definetely was too much for a video game (knowing that poverty is a major problem to the inhabitants of planet earth). But anyway HF is also an awesome “document” to me as a 3D stuff collector, showing what communities are able to do with an underrated 3d device.
I also argued to myself, I’d be able to sell it later for the same price – so the money would have been more like a deposit. But I don’t want to sell it anyway … πŸ˜›
And finally, it also was my birthday when I bought it. And I had worked very hard on differen’t things the weeks before – so I consider it as a gift to myself πŸ™‚
I also do regulary donations for non-profit organizations … so, conscience washed clean again, haha … πŸ˜‰

I doubt that I will invest a similar sum again for a game … well – but maybe to support an upcoming, awesome homebrew project …? πŸ˜‰
I think, that would be more reasonable …

I paid $750 for one before. Most of us have seen the eBay prices.

Don’t worry, nobody else has paid anywhere close to what I paid to get my copy.

I would probably be more than willing to be the overwhelmingly largest contributor to a future Virtual Boy homebrew project, as long as the person who was making the game came with credentials, like Mr. Anon did. Like if DanB would ever desire to give us a full version of the Zero Racers-like game that the VB so desperately needs, I’d be all on board for that, especially if the deal happened to include that awesome prototype VB link cable… Just throwin’ it out there. πŸ˜‰

I would be willing to contribute as well. I wouldn’t be able to contribute a lot but if we got a pool going I would do what I could.

πŸ™‚ I believe
But at least, you made something happen with your investment. AND created a job when some talented guy needed one.

I’d drop a couple of hundred, if it produced a solid game, I’m still amazed that Ben padded it all himself (ty btw). My wife would kill me.

Yeah, I know how that is. If things go well with my current girlfriend and we end up getting married, I probably won’t be able to be as generous towards Virtual Boy projects at that time as I can at the moment.

So somebody already made new batch of hyperfighting or what : o ?

So I’m trying to unlock Ben but no matter how I do it, nothing happens, I got the other unlock code working but not him, is there a specific speed I need to do it in? Do I only get the one try and need to restart the VB to try again?

Sorry it wasn’t clear in the original post. To get it to work, you have to press, AND HOLD, the following buttons:

LEFT (on right D-pad) + RIGHT (on left D-pad) + SELECT + A + R + L

Thus, you can use your left thumb to press and keep pressing the RIGHT button on the left D-pad as well as the SELECT button, and you can use your right thumb to press and keep pressing the the LEFT button on the right D-pad as well as the A button, and you can use your left and right pointer fingers to press and hold the L and R buttons. If you are pressing and holding all of these buttons down at the same time, the code should work, and I don’t think it matters which buttons you start to press and hold down first.
