Wow… I almost thought this was legit for a moment. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nintendo-Virtual-Boy-VB-SD-GUNDAM-DIMENSION-WAR-CIB-English-Version-/290960166135?pt=Video_Games_Games&hash=item43be93ccf7
I really thought it might have been a repro, but was a little unsure. Then I read the description which describes it to be in English “as it would have been if it was released in the US/Canada”.
I never seen a repro like this though. Does the booklet have anything in it? and there is a TRANSLATED version of SD Gundam Dimension War? this is still pretty cool.
EDIT: Apparently this repro was something Uncle Tusk did.

This is one of the reproductions sold by Tusk (http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=5263&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0).
You can download the translation patch here: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/games/?r011d
I can understand someone wants to sell it as it is not a very good game.
The seller does not really say that it is a reproduction. He kind of says that it isn’t a official release though. He also didn’t start with an insane high price so I would let him go.
Its already standing on 305$

Jack Bros. – Cartridge Only

I think he is being purposely vague.
It reads as if there was an official English release.

It never ceases to amaze me, the number of people who are willing to spend so much money on Virtual Boy stuff but who do not want to take a few minutes to perform an internet search on “Virtual Boy” and find the largest, most dedicated Virtual Boy site online and inform themselves of things before parting with their cash.
Hats off to the seller on this one. He gave the bidders a chance to get the game for far less than what a brand new copy of the game still sells for on UncleTusk’s site, yet the bidders want to pay so much more.
I contacted the seller asking if it is a official release or a repro. Here is what he wrote:
Hi! Thanks for your interest in my item. I wrote you a huge message but Chrome decided to crash on me, so sorry if this message is shorter! 🙂 I purchased the cart off of an eBay seller a few months back and then I purchased the box/inserts from another seller shortly thereafter. I am not a huge collector but I wanted to try game out (as I have never played it on VB). I have never questioned its authenticity, the previous seller told me that it was a Japanese version cart that was translated to English in Japan. These carts were never sold here in the states but the dialogue is in English, which makes sense because the title screen has a few Japanese characters. I paid about $600 for the cart and the box combined, I was hoping to make a little bit of my money back but if someone else gets some enjoyment out of the game, I will sell it at a loss. Definitely a great one to add to your collection AND you don’t have to purchase it from a Japanese seller. Please let me know if you have any further questions!

Here is what I wrote back:
ahhh, so it is not the reproduction you can only buy on this store: http://www.uncletusk.com/node/212 for around $80? That is strange because the Box/Label clearly show it is from that site. It is even more surprising that you managed to buy the game from Japan a few months back as the shop started selling that game not even a month ago.
Reporting him would be appropriate.
He told me This after that i have ask about the game :
Beste retrofan_nl,
No thanks, this is the condition that Uncle Tusk sends it in. I would like to get my $80 back out of this game. Thank you.

Well, I confronted him, he apologized for lying and tried to explain himself. He said he would donate the rest of the money to the faceball Fundraiser. Lets see if that’s going to happen.

I doubt it, i think we are just dealing with an speculator, considering his text on ebay and his answers.

I have my doubts as well.
What really upsets me is that he was intentionally vague about the origins of the cart. It ends up reading like its a unique item. The person buying it is getting ripped off. If he had been honest and mentioned what it was and how it was acquired then I wouldn’t have an issue with the auction.
Falsing leading a buyer into spending more than something is worth is immoral.
Looks like he re-listed it due to non-payment. The buyer probably realized he got duped. This guy disgusts me. He’s most certainly not donating any money.

I find it interesting that at the same time that he is trying to sell SD Gundam by itself, he is also trying to sell it as part of a large lot here:
So either he bought 2 copies of English SD Gundam recently and is now selling them very shortly after original purchase, or else he is going to have a big problem if both auctions have bids placed on them at the same time. The fact that he is also trying to sell the same 8 game boxes, which appear in the large lot, by themselves here:
causes me to conclude that he is, indeed, trying to sell the same items in 2 different auctions at the same time, which will cause him problems if both auctions receive bids at the same time.
At least in his large lot he lists Bound High and Space Pinball as Fan Made Repros. Doesn’t has that for SD Gundam. No idea if he actually bought 2 or it’s the same one. Only Tusk can tell us if anyone bought 2 copies.
Someone’s got the big 4 up for auction, individually. They all look like super nice boxes, too.
VBowling is *only* $400 at the moment; Lab is $250.
Should be a few to watch…
Those are ben’s auctions. Trust me..he’s had a few of those games and kept only the best 🙂 bid bid bid 🙂
