In this thread we all want to post cool, spectacular, noteworthy, jaw-dropping […] Virtual Boy auctions on ebay, Yahoo or any other site…
At first here are two auctions on Yahoo Japan (Always cooool stuff on there!) for the japanese Nintendo Store Display:

I wonder what the scam is? Some form of money laundering? It’s not like he’s driving prices up….(or the impression of what the prices are)
I’m pretty sure Paypal holds the money for 60 days for new accounts, or until confirmed delivery. As long as the people don’t wait over 60 days to complain when it doesn’t arrive the guy won’t get any money. At least that’s how I remember it when I first sold stuff on ebay.

That sounds about right. He must think that if he quickly deletes an account after a sale, he’ll get to keep his money and run away scot-free, but that’s not how it works.
Yeah, I’ve been “scammed” before on ebay, I bought what I thought was a good deal on some Game Boy stuff. I caught right when it was listed, and I bought it before I noticed that the seller had a Chinese name and no feedback. It took a while but I got my money back, and there’s no way that seller got any money out of it.
But those accounts/listings keep popping up. I wonder if they’re doing something weird like selling the PayPal accounts themselves, showing that there’s a pending deposit (that never goes through)?
Oh, I was thinking that it was a scam where the buyer and seller are in it together. Buyer needs to move money somewhere else, seller “sells” something, so the money gets transferred – but you don’t bother to send anything because you’re only making the transaction in order to launder the money you’re sending. (though, at $100 per sale roughly, that seems kind of stupid lol)

Plus, whenever something like that happens, they usually use a very vague product name and almost no details at all in the description, so that there’s almost no chance that someone else will click on it.
Listings like that have constantly been showing up in the Video Game categories (and I’d assume other categories as well) for a while now. I get the feeling that they’re meant to collect contact information. I’m not sure for what purpose, but with the buyer protections that eBay and Paypal offer, it doesn’t seem likely that they’re actually getting any money through Paypal.

Hey,
I’m in the UK & I’ve finally got my hands on a VB & looking to complete the collection of official releases. No homebrew for now. I appreciate some of the games are quite pricey but wondering where to look for a realistic price guide? Any help appreciated please
This was a very good deal for whoever picked it up:

original designed to dump Hyper Fighting, but I was unable to. Maybe more tinkering with code etc will allow it
