Virtual Boy is the worst console of all time according
to swedish site and magazine, GameReactor.

I’m so damn sick of this. They put sh!t like RCA Studio II, Apple Pippin and CD-i above the VB… and they omitted sh!tty consoles like Bandai Hyperscan, Gizmondo and R-Zone from the list altogether.

One thing they brought up was “small kids got vision and balance problems after playing it” and as we know the Virtual Boy wasn’t even made for small kids! I mean I might be wrong but wasn’t there plenty of warnings to kids under 7 not to play it?

Another standard is “it gives you awful back pain from playing it” which is also BS. Get a low chair, a high table, put it on a box or lie in bed. Sure a great console shouldn’t make you do anything special but still, it’s not impossible.

I doubt the people or person that made this article has ever even played the Virtual Boy and just regurgitates whatever “the internet” says about it (or the AVGN, he bears some responsibility too).

I wouldn’t get too upset. Honestly who cares what some people think. If they think it’s crap, then they’re missing out, plain and simple. If someone really can’t see how cool this thing is technically especially for a 1995 release then they are not worth our time.

Let them post their stupid shit. It’s obvious these aren’t credible people and haven’t done research. We know better than to read that sort of trash.

I’m just so sick of the willful ignorance. I can accept it being on a top 10 worst consoles list somewhere, but NOT, NOT, NOT at number 1.

i work in a videogame store. we have a virtual boy out for customers to play. everyone that plays it is very impressed. everyone seems to love it in fact. there is no reason to call it the worst system ever. that truly is ignorance.

Whoa, shots fired… R-Zone is not shitty, it’s actually rather high quality for a LCD gaming system.
I have given up on people’s view of Virtual Boy though, people who have never played one will never truly understand it’s superiority.

Anytime someone bashes the VB I always think of 2 things that tears their whole argument fall apart:

1. They’ve probably never played it so they just go with popular opinion so they can be “cool”.
2. They focus 100% on the red/black graphics and never giving the games/game play an actual chance.

An interesting development, the head editor of the magazine/website replied to my comment defending the Virtual Boy. And guess what he said?

(paraphrasing)
“Haha. You haven’t played it. We have one at the office and it’s completely terrible.”

Of course he doesn’t know me, but still… -I- haven’t played the Virtual Boy? Me, who owns all the games physically except the big four, me who reviews ALL the games including the unreleased and homebrew.

The kicker to his reply though is the implication that I can’t have played it if I like it, because he dislikes it and can’t believe anyone likes it probably.

The N-Gage and Jaguar do not deserve to be on that list. And why is the GBA there? The guy who made that must be smoking something.

The only reason that people think the virtual boy is bad is because it was nintendo’s only failure. If it wasn’t made by nintendo, it would be thought of like the vectrex (a failed game console but a good one).

Excellent point. It’s a juicy target.

What about the 64DD? How does that not even appear on this list, yet the freaking GBA does? These guys don’t know dick about gaming.

Agreed. Everyone may be entitled to their opinion but this guy needs to get a clue.

Was reading the article and found it funny how they claimed that the GBA was bad because the shoulder buttons were not the best and above all how the screen light was dark as hell yet they didn’t have the Gameboy in the list because it also has bad screen light

As for the VB most of it has already been written in the this forum thread but one thing was at the end of the article when they wrote that they are laughing because Nintendo actually though the VB would make people wait for the N64 and not get a PS1

Overall a horrible article that should have gone more in depth on the different systems and above all made a real top 10 and not add the GBA or claim the VB at number 1
