Well originally I was totally against R-Zone believing it to be a useless console. After buying my first complete NOS R-Zone XPG with Jedi Adventure… I decided to buy a loose console to try it out because online reviews can’t show what it’s actually like.
After much deciding over the last couple weeks, I have now bought 3 head units (because its cheaper to collect games with consoles) and the NOS XPG.
I now own the following R-Zone games:
Star Wars Jedi Adventure (NOS, so I have no opinion on the game)
Star Wars Millennium Falcon Challenge (Quite fun, has a Vectrex-like feel)
Battle Arena Toshinden (hard to play because I don’t have a manual, nor is there one for download)
Primal Rage (Actually pretty cool once you learn the special combo moves)
Batman Forever (Very close to your average Tiger handheld, which is a good thing… Classic)
Indy 500 (Also feels Vectrex-like, standard racing game)
Overall, it’s actually surprisingly good; but difficult to collect for because its obscure.
I spent around $80 for it all, which isn’t bad but now I have 2 extra head units, which I guess friends could use for play?
I was also able to download a console manual, the Batman Forever manual, Indy 500 manual and Primal Rage manual. The other games sadly do not have them available because they are slightly rarer.
I just acquired Batman Forever, Virtua Cop, and Virtua Fighter 2, so I now have 18 (14 sealed, 4 loose) of 25.
Hello and welcome.
That’s a nice collection you got there. I wish you luck on your search for a complete collection. You can sometimes find stuff on ebay, that’s all I’v ever done.
That’s a great collection and way nicer then what I had previously seen. Please if you have an manuals I am trying to create a database and those would help if scanned.
I, too, am interested in creating a manual and cover database! One is sorely needed because this system is so poorly documented. The manuals must be sandwiched between the cardboard in the blister packs (reading the backs of the packages, I see that they are indeed). I haven’t opened any yet, but will eventually. I want to keep the packaging as intact as possible, though, so I think I’ll use a razor around the inner edges of the backsides, hopefully allowing the backs to become flaps so that the contents can be reinserted.
A few members of the MESS are glacially progressing on R-Zone emulation, but I think it’s still many years away. Simulation might be easier than emulation, but very few people work on simulators and no one’s working on any for the R-Zone.
As of this writing, this eBay store has six sealed mint games available. My three most recent acquisitions came from them. They’re all priced at US$25 each, but I got them for $18 each through Best Offer, and they combine shipping.

I have Virtua Fighter loose, but not Virtua Fighter 2.
Perhaps this person can help you?

Dreammary do you need a sealed copy of Virtua Fighter (I think its 2)? I’ve got an extra copy for $20.
Do you have the Panzer Dragoon boxart and game, or just the manual?
thank you. i will ask him. it is just the manual. and i have the game. no box art. if anyone has any r zone games they would care to sell please lef me know.
i have been wanting to scan it so people can use it. i just have no way of doing this at the moment.
Pictures would be fine.
If you’re still looking, the eBay store I mentioned has four sealed copies of Virtua Fighter 2 left. The seller sold me one and two other R-Zone games for $18 each through Best Offer (plus $14 combined shipping from Greece to Texas).
thank you. my laptop is not working properly. i am using a wii u. i have a camera. just no way to post images. i see you are a newbie. i have some virtual boy games for sale if you are interested.

I just acquired Panzer Dragoon sealed, so I’ll be able to scan the manual (and card art) for everyone after it arrives. I’m now at 18 (15 sealed, 3 loose) of 25 (apparently, my count was off by one in an earlier post). The eBay lot including Apollo 13 arrived yesterday, so I can scan those as well.
This new concept has really reinvigorated my interest in the Virtual Boy.
vbsteffel was able to uncover a new game on R Zone that was previously unknown.
This is Football (soccer). 🙂

thank you for helping me with the picture dreammary. this game was made in 1998. i do not believe it was released in america. i bought this game from a seller in france. it did not come with a manual. it was just the game itself. it also came with the head unit so it may have been a pack in. i was told by the seller this game is very very hard to find even in france.
The R Zone is full of surprises; it makes me wonder what else was specific to other countries that we never received here in the states.
it is a simple yet fun game. it has an authentic crowd cheering sound when a goal is scored.
I have an R-Zone XPG with Daytona USA and Battle Arena Toshinden. I know one of them came packed in with the system. Pretty sure I got this for around $20-30 at Wal Mart when they were selling them off on clearance (should’ve bought haha!).
Daytona USA is actually pretty fun, haven’t played Battle Arena Toshinden in a while. Not bad for LCD games.
At one point the screen on my XPG wasn’t lighting up, but all the music and sounds were still working, so I thought it was busted, turns out it just needed a fresh pair of batteries.
Yea that’s a weird thing about R-Zone, if your screen is dead it means the batteries need changed. But it’s a great console to collect for as it has a good handful of fun games.
