Our reader Matthew Callis from http://superfamicom.org/ and http://eludevisibility.org/ has sent in a scan of an Article about the unreleased Virtual Boy game “Doraemon: Nobita no Doki Doki! Obake Land”. It’s from Famitsu No. 367 (1995/12/29), page 243, and shows previously unknown screenshots of the game. If anyone is able to translate the japanese text, please let us know!

Can’t read Japanese but i so want to know if thats a cat riding a rollercoaster in the screen shot.
Oh no a new obsession to occupy my tiny mind.
Would a cat actually stay on a rollercoaster, I know mine probably would if the seat was comfy enough.
I can read Japanese. The story takes place in an amusement park. Doraemon’s friends were kidnapped by ghosts and he’s on a mission to rescue them. You can go through stages, ride rollercoasters and bungee jump. That’s just a simple rundown. I can translate more. I’m Spindick on the forums.
It would be extra cool if someone could get a good enough (monochrome scan through a red filter gel, maybe?) scan of the in-game text for someone to translate.
Cool, Spindick. It’d be great if you could translate the whole article with every little bit of japanese text.
Sure! I’m on vacation this week. I can get to it next week when I return home. π
Once you translate it, it would be cool if somebody could edit the image to change all the text to English or any other language. I’ll do it, but I’m going on vacation probably the same day you’re getting home.
Sure! I was going to do it, but it’d probably be a shabby job. Got an e-mail where I can send you the translation? Also if there are other things that need to be translated on the site, I wouldn’t mind doing so. It will help me maintain my Japanese.
You can send it here: http://www.vr32.de/modules/liaise/index.php?form_id=2 π
There’s actually a lot of other stuff which need to be translated. How about those for example, is the resolution high enough to read the text?

I’ll get to work on some of this. Sorry for the delay. I’ve been very busy moving into a new place. Some of the images have low res and may difficult to translate.
I translated the page and sent it to one of the members of this site to merge the text with the photo. For those who are curious, here is the text of the main body above the two photos:
Doraemon, Nobita, and friends come to life in a three-dimension amusement park featured on the Virtual Boy. Run through each stage by riding rollercoasters or bungee-jumps. Search out for hidden tools and rescue your friends who were abducted by ghosts.
The rest is translated except the text in the screenshot, because I couldn’t really see it.
Oh, and KR155E, could you repost those other 4 images? I don’t think they’re up anymore. I can get to work on the next image.
I changed the text. Great job translating!

Very nice, thanks Spindick (and Garrison)! I will now need to find a good way to include translated articles on the page. You can find high res scans of other articles here:
http://www.vr32.de/modules/articles/?s159001 (18 pages, high res)
http://www.vr32.de/modules/articles/?s162002 (2 pages, very low res)
