Pretty interesting read, they give it a 4/10. Some people just aren’t as captivated by the inner-workings of the little red beast as we are.
Check it, here.
at first I thought the picture that shows the pills (that are red of all colors…) were placed there as a joke of addiction to playing the VB, but then I realized they are headache pills π

Sadly, there are people whose puny brains and eyes can’t handle stereoscopic images/video games. I pity them. It is they who gave the VB its bad publicity, and they’re already trying to bring down the 3DS. Death to them!
At least it sounds like they didn’t have a unit with the glitchy displays. Can you imagine!?!?!
once you mount the thing onto its two-legged stand any aspirations of a truly immersive experience are obviously out the window. Any notions of shame will follow as soon as you stick your face in the thing.
Sounds pretty bias. Anybody that put their chubby face in a VB in 1995 was amazed. It was real 3D, every kid was stoked that played it then.

heck, I put my face (which might also be chubby) in a VB in 2010 and was amazed (even though I didn’t doubt I’d be amazed) π
pretty much anyone who hasn’t played the VB, is already sensitive to anything thats 3D, didn’t set the focus and IPD dial correctly (or at all) or just wants to be on the hate bandwagon are the ones who say the VB is horrible the most

Haters gon’ hate. The amount of negativity towards anything 3D has always baffled me. We’ve got 2 eyes for a reason, to perceive depth, so… I fail to comprehend why anyone is less than enthusiastic about 3D, especially in a video game.

I know, someone (on a different site) actually got annoyed by me expressing my opinions on engadget’s review on the Virtual Boy, they said all these things like “the VB gives 99.99% of people headaches!” and I am only one of the “3 people” who don’t get headaches from the VB (which they then said that they were joking about the 3 people thing after I confronted them with proof of more than 3 people)
why can’t I express my opinions if reviews like that can express theirs? π
I just finished playing 3 hours of Killzone 3 in 3D on my 65″ tv with the Move motion controller…yeah, the future is here already. Freakin awesome, I can’t believe people hate on 3D. I loved 3D even back when all I could use were those crappy “eDimensional” shutter glasses for PC. Heck, I even loved this thing: http://www.comingsoon.net/nextraimages/viewmastermovie.jpg

That sounds so fun! But don’t make fun of my eDimensionals! >:( π
Also, your link is broken. I think this page has the image you wanted: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=56857
Maybe with 3D coming back, Fisher-Price will update the VM with LCDs and USB or HDMI…

My link isn’t broken on my end, it links directly to the picture just fine.
The eDimensionals were cool but had horrible software support. They didn’t work in most games and you also had to have a very specific kind of monitor – and even then you would still get a good amount of flickering and ghosting.
I always used mine w/ the old nVidia 3D driver (which they got rid of 5 or 6 years ago), and they worked pretty well. Of course there was some ghosting, but the flicker wasn’t too bad for mine because I had my monitor run at 100-120Hz refresh. I think that actually caused more ghosting (transition speed of the LCD shutter), but the less flicker was worth it.
I actually have a iZ3D polarized LCD monitor, but the ghosting on that is worse than the shutter glasses on my CRT IMO. By far the best is my 3D dual projector setup w/ polarized lenses.

If I had to go with 3D tech on my PC I would definitely prefer an Nvidia card with a 120Hz monitor and the Nvidia 3D setup.
For PS3 and 360 I have a 3D DLP TV (65″) with active shutter glasses and there is zero flicker and very little ghosting. It’s the best home-3D tech I’ve seen yet. I do like the idea of a dual-projector system though – no shutter glasses, just polarized.
