The wait is already over, bigmak hereby releases the ROM dump of his Niko-Chan Battle (aka Faceball) prototype for everyone’s enjoyment! If you don’t know what the heck I am talking about, please scroll down two news posts for the (short) full story.

Bigmak is now accepting donations a well. Unlike previously stated, there will not be any complete-in-box reproductions given out in return for donations, due to a lot of bad feedback received from people who simply did not understand what this is all about. Instead, the already produced carts will be given out for free! Details will be made known soon.

Yea..only I can mess up a dump :D. I have no clue how many times the code was repeated originally. I think I had a 32 or 64 meg file 😛

Was freakin out a bit..the file ‘played’..but wouldn’t fit on a flashboy. We were going to have to design special boards to even be able to play it on hardware.

Mindstorm came to the rescue thou 😛

bigmak, thanks so much for your hard work. When will there be details on the physical carts being given away? I’ll be happy to make a donation at the end of the month, but am hoping beyond hope to get a physical cart (I even wrote a letter to Nintendo Power once, as a 12 year old VB enthusiast, begging them to make Faceball for Virtual Boy.) Suffice to say, I’ve been waiting a long time for this.

It sucks about all the negative press but I do want to personally thank you for wonderful contribution to the Virtual Boy community. You have really done an amazing thing and words can’t even begin to express how amazing you are, so money will have to do it lol. I do hope that I am one of the fortunite ones to receive a cart. I don’t know how Eric is going to determine who receives a free cart, but I would hope that preference is given to long-standing Virtual Boy community members, who have shown by their revealed character that they truly appreciate the Virtual Boy a lot, truly appreciate this game, and intend to keep it and cherish it for a long time, especially since they will be getting it for free.

Seriously, if anybody manages to get a free Faceball cart, for the sole purpose of trying to sell it for a large profit soon, you are going to upset a lot of people who will likely be on your case in a heartbeat. It would be an extremely strong slap in the face to Eric, and if there is ever a Virtual Boy Hall of Shame posted online, you deserve to be there.

I’m not charging any specific person with plans to do this, but I know for sure that there must already be people out there who have this intention, and they could very well be posing as “sincere Virtual Boy fans” right now, with the intent to get their greedy hands on one of these.

I am planning to write a review of the game and would love some high-quality photos of the front and back of the reproduction cart. If a box and manual are released, then images of those as well.

I’m sure bigmak will come up with a good way to distribute the carts. If nothing else, he could print up all of the forum usernames and throw ’em on the floor, mailing the carts to the first XX people that he picks up. 🙂 I’m just happy that someone out there is getting a cart. I certainly wouldn’t mind if I were one of ’em, though!

I’m sending an invoice later. If I get a cart, that’s good, but doesn’t matter. Great job organizing this, Eric!

You cannot buy one, no. None were sold, and they won’t be sold; but maybe you will have a chance to win one. bigmak hasn’t said how he intends to distribute the cartridges that were made, so you’ll just have to reacquaint yourself with the forums and see what he says. 🙂
