First time post, but I’ve been lurking the forums for answers so thanks for all the useful info. I have a VB that has worked previously. I pulled it out of the closet a few months ago to play a couple rounds of telroboxer. But to my dismay I got nothing. Here is what I have checked thus far:

-inserted & removed cartridge multiple times to clean contacts.
-checked focus and turned sound all the way up, pressed start multiple times, to see if I was going into the game and it was a display issue
-I have opened the unit and seen a red led come on so I know I am receiving power.
-While open checked ribbons and inspected for anything blown.

With that said. I get the little “click” when switching the power on. I also see the mirrors vibrating which I hear is a good sign. Looking for a little more insight from some virtual boy masters.

Well when I was having probs with a batt pack I would get the red led to come on but never would power up fully. With my AC tap the VB worked just fine. I would look in side the batt pack with a bright light and make sure you have no corrosion inside.

Just thought I would continue here because I have a similar problem.

My VB used to have the lines problem but than I fixed this by putting it in the oven and applying some tape. This has kept it working for a long time.
Last time I used my VB was about a month ago and I didn’t have any problems. Now I got some new games in the mail today and wanted to play them.

The problem is that now I don’t have any image. I do have sound and the mirrors are moving, but no image at all in neither screen.

Any tips?

I would check your repair and the cables to make sure there still plugged in tight.

Turns out you were right. I redid the whole repair thing and now it’s alive and well.
Weird that both screens gave up at the same time

You didn’t bake the ENTIRE Virtual Boy unit, did you?

Actually, before I bought the special screw bit I used to put my whole VB (without visor) in the oven for a few minutes to fix the lines problem. It worked than for a short time.

Vb’s are tough.

At least the Virtual Boy was invented by the same guy who brought us the Gulf War-proof Gameboy… or that Virtual Boy would have been toast! 😯

I have checked the connectors inside. (All seem tight)

I have tried using batteries and plug both giving me no display.

And yes the VB was previously working before x months in storage.

You did but it kinda got hi-jacked.

You have a AC plug so it rules out the batt pack. Are you getting any sounds from it?

Not good… with any system.

I’m sure that you tried other games if you have them. All I can think of is to make sure that any caps didn’t below. Also the VB game connector.

To look at the game connector. Take off the serial number cover. Once off look down it and you will see what looks like the end of a VB game. You can push this in carefully with 2 tooth picks.

Checked the connectors. Seems normal, no broken pins or anything. Could it really be the game? I do only have one but I hear you can pickup mario tennis for cheap on ebay.

The games are tuff so the chances are low its the game but there is no way to know for sure but the VB is acting like it don’t have a game in it.

Mario Tennis is about $6 or so on ebay right now.

Well got a mario tennis on ebay. No worky. Any other suggestions?
