I just received my first flashboy + from Minestorm and couldn’t be happier! I did notice that the one I received was a 3D printed one but it was different then all the others I’ve seen. I’m going to post a pic of mine below. I would love to see what everyone else’s looks like.

I received mine about one month ago, it’s the same version.

i have a numbered flashboy in a box and a flashboy+ in a box. both are in dremeled vb game cases with fb stickers. i also have one of the original red printed 3d cases, that i am currently not utilizing. if you are collecting, then their are other variants you will want to track down.

does the new 3d printed case click together or is it glued?

I haven’t tried to take it apart but it looks like it could be glued. I hope to be able to collect the variants over time but its not crucial at the moment. My aim of this post was to get an idea how many variants exist so I know if its even plausible to get them all.

It looks like it clicks together, I don’t see any glue and I can kind of pry the middle of the side of the cart apart a little bit. Not enough to see inside, but I didn’t try too hard. No way am I going to tempt breaking this thing!

Yeah I didn’t want to try either LOL.

Yeah, these aren’t the cheapest things in the world, and not the easiest to get either. Gonna baby it =P

This is what i can remember..I’ll try to provide pics at some point 🙂

1st

Flashboy..has the number on the back right of the box.

came with a quick reference card, small usb, cd mini disc.

You can tell the early ones pretty easy. They didn’t have custom boxes yet. The box is a baseball box with a printed flashboy box ‘sticker’ that is covering the box.

2nd

Flashboy..higher numbers on the back of the box.

Main difference is the box. Went to a printed higher quality cardboard that was cut out and put together.

3rd

Flashboy plus…numbers started over on these.

Now has a battery back-up. higher quality box. The box design now has a cardboard spot built-in to hold the cart.

4th

Flashboy plus…no box

Start of the 3-d printed custom cases. Different colors ? No more tool marks on the cases. ‘Flashboy plus’ is printed so that you can see thru to the board. Case snaps together is is very well done.

That’s my list…anyone have any other ones ?

The transparent effect looks very smart. Next step buy a box but it will wait next month 😀

I actually got this from bigmak when I had to send Richard my 1st one (looked like the original grey 3d printed cart.

I just got mine , in a pretty white, its nice and smooth i was surprised how slick it is! not sure if its ABS or PLA, the resolution is tight!

I wonder if anyone has the .stl model to share, so we could print our own colors if we wanted!

I wouldn’t mind paying extra for colors anyways “hint, hint” “winky wink”

Coincidence? I was just playing bomberman94 on my turbografx/pcengine,

that is a sweet shade of pink , if i might say its sexy, and i am jealous!

i wouldn’t mind options, grey or vb-red printed colors.

i had to slightly loosen the screws on the bottom, but does not affect the stand at all, also make sure you purchase your own USB-mini-b cable.

Had to dig through my email history to figure out when I purchased this one from Richard – looks like sometime in January 2013. I think he’d just recently started 3D-printing them at that point.

Anyway, it looks a bit different from all the others pictures here, so I thought I’d share for those who were interested. 🙂
