Hello all. The other day I wanted to check something in Golf (see my thread in the General section for more!) and I realized I had sold the cart as part of a VB set I had moved on a while back. I told myself, that’s okay, I’ll just flash it to my FlashBoy. However, my FB+ is having hardships. The game already on it (Nikko-Chan Battle) is working fine, but I cannot get a PC to recognize it when it is plugged in (having tried 3 so far). This is new for me, as it worked fine when I last used it. Part of this is contributing to the paranoia that I feel about my new pad killing electronics somehow (I moved to new place 18 months ago, and have since found that almost all of my HDDs which aren’t installed into regularly used machines or into external enclosures have died, no idea why), and now I’m afraid my flashby might have suffered the same fate. However, it could just be me overreacting. Can anybody help shed some light onto what is going on here?

Thanks!

Have you tried a different USB cable? I know they’re picky about USB cables, usually using the one that came with it is the best idea.

My bad, thought I replied already. Unfortunately, I tried several different mini-USB cables, and confirmed that other devices successfully transferred data over the same cables, so I know it’s not an issue with the cables. I do have the original cable, and it works with other things, but not with the flashboy.

Hmm, not too sure then.. all I can think of is something wrong with the usb port on the cart, but that’s a wild guess.

Hi. I wanted to chime in with that otherwise useless bit of additional content. I have only 1 USB cable that works with my FB+. It was the one that came with it, originally. I’ve never found anything else that works. I once sent it back for repairs, assuming it was the USB connector. After having it re-soldered and returned, the problem continues. hehe. Quirky.

Would it be possible to disassociate the USB driver with that device, so the next time you plug it in, it’s like the 1st time again? Maybe something even as drastic as an uninstall/reinstall?
