Original Post

Hi VB friends!

Who wants to play “Faceball” early? πŸ˜‰

Ever since Mr. G started that thread, I’ve been secretly working on my own homebrew clone of it, a repro-proto if you will πŸ™‚
It’s solely based on his screenshots/videos and detailed information to recreate as much of the game as possible. I think the time has come to share what I have so far.

All 10 levels described by Mr. G are playable and completable right now. The map and radar is there, as is powerup drops, and the controls should be pretty close to the original.
(My favourite is stage 6, it looks so cool with all those wireframe glass panels)
Currently there’s only two enemy types through all levels, no AI to speak of, and no sound, but I’ll be working on that next.

The plan for the future is to add lots of more levels, and probably some textured walls and 2-player link cable support.

I call it Ballface. Expect more updates soon πŸ™‚

If this is how one responds to the hard work and effort of others, then how should one respond to your effortless post? Was the rest of your day so productive that all you had left to do was publicly lament about how the universe doesn’t live up to your expectations?

Take it somewhere else, your majesty, and leave this thread to those who have any purpose posting in it.

Dude, DanB worked really hard on Ballface. He’s NOT DONE YET. hint hint.

Besides, Faceball in any form is extremely awesome.

Maybe you should wait to play it until he’s done?

Such a cool project! I’m totally going to check it out tonight when I get home. I really hope you do go the Donkey Kong ’94 route — having a huge, expansive game hiding behind an otherwise simple front is a fun trick. πŸ™‚

Keep up the good work!

Oh it just sounded by the creator that he was finished with this and is starting on a donkey kong vb game but as I said
I am judging this as a player and not as a programer

As a programer it is very good made and I give him full respect on that and it is fun to have something before faceball is released and I really do hope he finishes this game where the enemies can move and attack back and if possible add missions and a intro story

DanB, keep please working on this great project πŸ™‚

Regards,

Salva

Yeah, I wonder where the updates are?

Keep calm, updates will come.
I’ve just been busy lately with work, life and all πŸ˜›

I’ve mostly been working on adding music so far, which will “soon” be done πŸ˜‰

Thanks Dan. looking forward to the updates.

I have no idea how your game works but if it is somehow similar to the ROM you may be able to utilize my Faceball Level Editor to build your levels. I can easily write and additional exporter if stuff fits together.
