Dear bm681max,

Hello, so I’m assuming you mean that it is only the eye shade and no box? I mainly just want to know if the box is included. Thanks.

Dear homenacecf,

Good morning.

I’m always amazed at how English-speaking people assume their counterparts know enough colloquial English and idioms to keep track of what is being said.
The seller’s translation sucks, true. But your attempt at communication isn’t golden either.

Yes, let’s start off with a complex sentence. Use the KISS principle. Split that up into multiple sentences which all follow SPO word order resp. PSO for questions.
Don’t use colloquial speech either. Say “without X” instead of “no X”. Much better chance being understood. Keep the adverbs and subjunctive clauses in check, too.

You mainly just want to possibly if it you oh-so-pleases maybe like to know?

Hello X!
Is auction only for eye shades? Is the box included?

That might not yield eggplant in your answer.

I normally wouldn’t expect it but in this case I do. If you are going to list it on an English dominant auction site, you should be able to comunicate with potential buyers.

Most countries learn English as a second, third, or even fourth language. I honestly think they just tried using a poor translator. Btw, I’m multilingual.

That might not yield eggplant in your answer.

cYa,

(sorry, my comment ended up in the quote field in my last post)

Well I’m actually multilingual. Just not in Japanese. I do expect someone who is listing something for sale on a English dominant auction site to be able to communicate with a potential buyer. The listing is even in pretty good English. Oh and in a lot of countries, English is a VERY common second, third, or even fourth language that children learn.

Forget “will it blend?” The real question everyone should ask themselves is, “will it eggplant become an answer?”

Kid Icarus VB confirmed!!! … 😉

see this is why its hard to buy from ebay sometimes lol I always try to see if there is an item outside of china or whatever because whenever I get stuff that comes from there, it usually breaks or its bootleg crap.

This was a very interesting conversation indeed. It actually looks like the seller understood your question very well, but then, for some reason, it seems that his or her response was typed into a translation software program in Japanese, and then the English results were spit out, copied and pasted, and then sent to you. I’m guessing that whoever answered your question must not have been the same person who created the details in the product listing.

But yes, it is clear that the seller was only selling the shade without a box and that the image was not the actual image of the product for sale.

Oh really? And I thought those poor bastards in Europe had to get by using their cavespeak, seeing as they lack so many modern commodities such as electricity, central heating and refrigeration :-/
Guess it’s up to ‘Merica to teach them proper speech and decent values.

Sigh… Have a nice day.

It’s been my experience on the web that criticising a person’s (any person’s) grasp of a language doesn’t generally make you any friends, particularly if you’re doing it to take the mickey. It nearly always ends in recriminations.

Just saying, not wanting to stir things any more. Pax.
