Hey everyone!
I am considering importing a virtual boy from either us or japan, but I am concerned about damaging it by feeding it the wrong voltage. I will most likely be using a battery pack, NOT a wall mounted power adapter. Can i use GB batteries in a us/japan virtual boy? Are batteries universal? Will GB batteries blow the fuse? To import one to GB will cost a lot of money, so I don’t want to damage it.
Thanks!

Batteries are batteries. 6 AA Batteries are all you need.

Avoid rechargable batteries, the voltage is 1.2V instead of 1.5V

1.2V x6=7.2V
1.5V x6=9V

Batteries. I’m in England and found a virtual boy boxed at mcm expo London for 120 quid 3 years ago. Including the system , 7 games and a replacement part because of my own stupidity I’ve not spent more than 200 quid. Not bad when it never came out in the uk.

6 aa batteries last hours as the red leds don’t use much power. The Japanese or USA adapters would need a step down converter to avoid blowing anything out in the system. Really not worth it.

Pro-Tip: you don’t need an adapter that takes 100/110v in, you just need one that puts out 6-13VDC (and has the right plug for your adapter tap).

If you get the Japanese adapter tap, you just need an AC adapter that can do 6-13V, with a standard 2.2x5mm barrel-plug with (I think) negative on the tip (someone confirm this for me; I don’t own the tap), you should be good to go.

Good to know but never saw the need to go for a wall adaptor any way. Especially as it’s an extra item to import. Stick to batteries imo!

I use a standard EU Nes/Super Nintendo supply to feed my VB. What is strange is that these consoles use 9.5V AC ! And it works fine.
