Hopefully this doesn’t irritate everyone but there is really nowhere else to ask.
So does anyone know any Hyper Fighting unlock codes or accomplishments you have to do to get unlocks? Or even confirmed existences of unlocks? I am a proud owner of the game and I have played it a fair amount and haven’t found much. I’ve read what seem like uncorroborated rumors online about hidden characters and modes. If anyone has anything to offer and they want me to swear to secrecy you can PM me or email me. I can keep a secret if asked… the person who sold me the game on here knows that, but I can’t provide them as a character reference obviously 🙂
Amazing what you can find by digging into the rom. Good stuff Thunder, thanks for sharing!
So guys, I’m guessing that we think we have likely found everything that can be unlocked in the game since thunder went as far as digging into the code? I wonder if the programmer would confirm nor deny this? Is he a member of the community?

The last time Mr. Anon logged into this site was October 28, 2013, so while you could try sending him a PM and asking, it probably isn’t likely that you’ll ever get a response.

While I don’t get why the ROM is kept secret
It was just to ensure the author got his cut. It’s such an amazing piece of programming.
BTW a cart-only version of the full game will soon be released.

Makes sense. It has been released over 2 and a half years ago though.
Isn’t it about time to release the rom?
i’m just happy to read that a cart-only release is planned. that game really needs to get into the hands of more gamers! having only 75 of those floating around hasn’t done much good for the VB community other than creating modern-day press for our beloved console!
It’s been a very long time since i last came here.
i’ve read about the release of a retail version of Hyper Fighting. Such a good news.
See ya later !
It’s a great news !
As the only french to have a cartridge of the complete version (maybe I’m wrong but I think so because I never found another frenchie with a cart), I spend a lot of time running from a show to the next one to let people discover this game, because it deserves more fame. I already visited about a dozen shows in the northern half of France with the cart in my pocket, asking the crew to let me show the game, telling its history, how it was made (at least the part we know^^). I’m even currently making a VB-to-TV output to display the game on stage.
A public release is the best news of the day.
Right now Hyper Fighting is probably my most valuable game. If the ROM is released that might change overnight, but I don’t care about that. It seems like the community at large should be able to enjoy this game. Sure it would be through an emulator, but it is just that good of a game and Mednafen does a great job at 3D. One of the best games on the VB imho. It’s only a matter of time before someone produces another run anyway. The genie is already out of the bottle. But what do I know.

I wouldn’t release it, a lot of people will be very unhappy.

Yeah, Mr. Anon is the one who “owns” the work that violates Capcom’s copyrights. If he ever decides to release it, great. Otherwise, anybody else leaking it would be considered a disgrace in more ways than many.

Yeah, that’s the annoying part. I have several roms that have never been released given to me by different sources. With all of them I have been asked not to share them or talk about them. So I don’t because I’m not someone who breaks a promise.
It’s just something we have to deal with. Many people share private dumps of games under the grounds that they won’t share it further or leak it.
I have a couple of these and I dare not share them. I’d rather not be that guy to break someones trust.
While I doubt we’ll be able to share the full rom any time soon, I do like the idea that it keeps it out of the hands of random cart makers that may try to profit from someone elses hard work. I’m also glad to hear there will be another official cart only release.
Everyone who has the HF Full rom (there’s a couple out there), just keep in mind that people know what fans will pay for VB stuff. Don’t let them take advantage of us.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not advocating for anyone stabbing anyone in the back or betraying confidence. We are nothing if we don’t stand by our word. I just don’t understand the logic of it all. What game developer have you ever spoken with that doesn’t want their game enjoyed by as many people as possible? The whole thing seems strange. And who do we even ask for release permission? I guess some of you know this guy but I don’t get it. Four years ago he dips into the site for 3 months, makes less than a handful of posts, drops the most badass VB game around, then vanishes!?!? It sounds more like an “anon”ymous handle for another user or something to me.
I’m a have in this scenario since I was lucky enough to get the game. I too would not release the ROM if I were y’all or if I knew how to dump VB games. But I feel bad for the “have nots” in the community and it seems enough time has passed. It’s like locking the Mona Lisa in your basement. One day someone will sneak in a camera and show the world what they’ve been missing and it won’t be on the owners own terms. That’s the nature of the world we live in.
Like everyone else who wishes to enjoy this master piece of a game. I wonder how the next batch of the official cart release is going to be handled? How many production runs? and I know it’s wishful thinking but how to prevent scalpers from making a penny out of the next batch of this carts.
Us genuine VB owners should be first in line to put our name down for pre order.
Thinking outside of the box, but wouldn’t it be nice if there was a way to hard code our VB serial # into the cart which can’t be modified, that way the game cart is tied to our VB console, this will surely limit scalpers making money out of this.
Touch wood, if something ever happens to your VB and you get another one, return the cart back with proof of purchase and for a small fee get a new cart with new serial #. This will definitely make this game limited 🙂
Can’t wait for the next production run, but will I be successful in getting a copy is the next question.

Well, as I mentioned, the work made by Mr. Anon violates Capcom’s copyrights, and the reason why he made such a work was per my request, which I later felt bad about, as I explained in detail here:
http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?post_id=31325#forumpost31325
Basically, Capcom is the one who would have to give permission for Mr. Anon’s work to be made publicly available in some form, and technically, Mr. Anon still has the ability to ask Capcom for permission either to publicly release the game for free or try to earn money off of it, as long as Capcom would receive its entitled proceeds. Either way, the decision as to what route to take, if either, should be left to Mr. Anon, since he’s the one who spent who knows how long making the masterpiece.
The only way I can see to avoid the price gouging would be to keep the games in continuous reproduction. Which would mean finding a source for connectors.
I had typed out a long reply on my phone, but there was a forum error and it was deleted. Long story short, Astro, Smurfing and even releasing small batches are probably measures to protect himself.
If a second copy becomes available to me (at a fair price), then I will surely buy it as two player would be wicked!
