Recently I made a few reproduction games for myself, and Lester Knight asked if I would be interested in making repros for the community

are reproductions in demand? is no one making any?

I may be interested in doing them, but only if a few things lined up. I don’t make or have access to the PCB design files, those came from MineStorm. I don’t like making repros of games that exist (unless its a modified version such as a translation). As well as I wouldn’t feel right making repros of homebrews or translations, unless the people who put the time and effort into making or translating the game were okay with it and got a kick back. (as would MineStorm if he was willing to sell his PCBs for any reproduction work) I’m not sure what the price of the repros would be with the donor games (and other materials), the cut for the coders, MineStorms cut, and a bit for me for my work as well.

I’m not saying I’m going to be doing this, not sure if I’m 100% willing or have the time, but if I did, and all the stars lined up, would there be an actual demand?

I just find it hard to believe there’s not a bunch of people doing this, as with SNES/NES/Genesis there’s quite a number of repro makers (I used to be one)

What are your your thoughts?

That sounds like a great idea! If any homebrewers want to let their games get released on cart but don’t feel like making an instruction booklet themselves, I will gladly help make the instruction booklet for anyone with no strings attached, as I did for Insecticide.

This was the last eBay auction I was following.

I do not know where these carts are from, but I suspect that they might be coming from here.

I doubt you’d ever see homebrew physical carts at $30. That’s close to the material cost.

I like that they are charging $749 for HF, yet they put it on a freaking pillow lol.

Maybe not $30 but under $50 perhaps but never over $200 like on Ebay lol

If it’s any comfort to any customers. I do have a WAY nicer pillow for the carts.

HF was $150 CIB and a lot of people gladly paid it. some even got 2 copies. I would also like to see carts in the $30-50 range (without the CIB experience). it will all come down to the cost of materials and time I suppose.

I’m late to the party on this one but this thread has me excited! I would love to make an entire separate physical library of the home-brews.

I’m definitely a physical copy kind of collector. I enjoy having a cart of homebrew stuff regardless of system. I think it would be cool to see a different case or box to keep homebrew carts separate from original releases.

Always interested in more cib physical carts of homebrews and English translations (What about Virtual Fishing?).

Would love to get some repros, especially of Bound High!

Any homebrews getting the treatment would be amazing too, can’t have enough physical content!

i want original homebrew in it’s own cartridge form. if you do prices around 30-40$ (assuming its worth it) then i’d buy a bunch!!

no one is late, except me.. It’s been a rough few months :/

I wish I had better news. and this was something going on, but for now. its not going so well (housing issues that I’ve been dealing with for over 2 years now for a house I purchased back in 2016, long story, pretty much can’t living in the house I purchased, contractor screwed me over, so I’ve moved several times since in apartments and relatives, as the legal battle goes on and on and on and on and on and on (2 years later) and on and on and on

Sucks to hear you’re getting dicked around. Hopefully the end of it is sooner then you think!

Personally if you make a CIB released of homebrew games never made by Tusk, I’ll be interested.

That’s not really the place for, but does someone know when Tusk will fill his stock of VB home-brews ? (I miss the last one 🙁 )
