I found this game for the 3DO:

It is the Japanese version of Escape from Monster Manor…but the red and black theme on it makes me think of Insmouse. The fact that “yakata” is also in the title helps, even though that seems to just mean ‘mansion’ in Japanese. As far as I know, the US version has very different artwork. Is this a coincidence or was Insmouse: No Yakata somehow related?

So you think Ismouse was a port of this?

Maybe not a port, “spiritual successor” perhaps? They seem to be from different companies even though the gameplay is somewhat similar from what I know. It just seems weird that the Japanese version has artwork with a red and black theme but the US version looks so different. This game came out a year before Insmouse too I think.

Where are the credits for both games, maybe the same people worked on both. Are they both based on H.P. Lovecraft’s work?
