Slowly and steadily working my way through the homebrews posted on this site. Tonight’s choice was Castle of Doom. I’m just generally impressed by all the devs who get even rudimentary games running on a VB. Loving my Flashboy+ and the effort people have been putting into this system for years. Thanks to you all.
I can only join in and say thanks as well. Very impressive work fellas. I hope to see more great things in the future as well.
me too! i’m a huge fan of the GB emulator, and that Guitar hero type game. so thanks everyone for their hard work
Just played Deathchase and I gotta say, this is a technical achievement. Got to level 7 before wiping out entirely–there seemed to be some glitches as I began the race (the trees were showing up with error graphic lines or something, but it was running so fast i couldnt see much before I died). But just imagining what this took to design and code—nice work.
As one of the developers of Deathchase, I thank you for trying it out and sharing your thoughts. Too bad you weren’t around during the voting 😉
Probably going to continue to use this thread (of mine) to record my comments/thoughts on the homebrews hosted here.
Just tried out Fishbone. Wow’d again. Im just very impressed by the level of proficiency and slick presentation you people are able to eek out of this system. I actually found myself slightly addicted to Super Fish World, trying (unsuccessfully) to reach 100 score. I made it that high on one of the games, but wanted to do it on all 4. Maybe another day. In any case, i love this process of trying your imaginations and designs. Were i a programmer, i’d throw my hat in the ring. I guess instead i’ll sit it out and enjoy your genius. Thanks!

Thanks man
There is quite a range in offerings and quality with the modern after market virtual boy stuff that’s for certain. I used to dabble a bit when I had a FB+ for a bit, but I don’t anymore. I’ve been hoping more proficient and complete works would come along with the VUE tools and rest getting better all the time. I think there’s plenty of untapped potential yet. I mean look at Hyper Fighting, that’s insane, and that one I do have a cart for.
Ok, next update. I played GAMEHERO, the “guitar hero” “clone” for VB. WOW! I mean, its comically low end in one way–the tunes are often approximations rather than some sort of “spot on” 8bit cover, and the visual presentation makes your eyes feel like they are going crossed (the way one spite is in one eye, and the 2nd sprite in the other eye) but it WORKS, and once you figure out how to play (i.e. the shoulder buttons as R and L) the game takes off. And it turns out to be a super cool homebrew effort!
I may have spent the most time playing this one of any homebrew so far. The very fact of unlockable content (additional songs)… i was coming back again and again. Some of the songs are funny to hear, others wow me with their excellence, and others are great gag/winks to the player (Wont spoil them here).
Loved it. What a cool idea and neat inclusion of so many tracks. Well done, devs. Really love it.
