Original Post

Hi,

So… After giving up with my first Virtual Boy -the one of the “Screw Trouble” thread I created last year- I decided to buy another VB earlier this year. It was working well, though physically it is in a worse condition than the one I bought first.

Anyway. Yesterday I wanted to play some Teleroboxer and, to my dismay, the “new” Virtual Boy now has screen problems: the left display has lines, and the right one doesn’t show any picture at all!

I could try the oven method again with this Virtual Boy, but I know from experience that the success of that method is short-lived. I want to try the soldering solution, but -as I said in the last thread- I am a total klutz with any kind of tools, and have the steady hand of a jackhamer veteran, so if soldering wasn’t a problematic task by itself, the fact that there has to be FINE soldering makes this option something way out of my league.

That’s why I want to know if anyone in the US with experience could repair -through the soldering method- my displays. Obviously, I would send the displays and pay both for the repair as well as for the shipping back to my home in Mexico City.

If anyone is up to the challenge -or knows someone in Mexico that can do this task-, please post in this thread.

The user Runnerpack has fixed my displays on my 1st VB. I’m sending out my second set to him tomorrow (hopefully). I would definitely contact him. His prices are very fair and his work is top notch. If you look at the “Like New” thread, I posted pictures of his work so you know what you can expect.

PM sent.

I hope the screws on this one don’t give you any trouble…
