Hey guys,
I’ve tried to play my VB comfortably for a while and can’t seem to find a position, so I found the lamp-o-tron and found some pics of other people making one, but I don’t know if I can actually pull it off and make one correctly that will fasten to my desk.
Does anyone have one, or the ability to make one/set one up? I’d probably be willing to pay if anyone can do this kind of service.

That would be super easy. You just need the upper portion of a spare stand, a lamp or microphone stand like pictured, and a welder or an epoxy.
Use the clamp, and the mount’s flat portion to bond or weld to the location your light or mic clip previously, and your main piece is done. The base photoed shows a basic c clamp you’d mount by twisting tight, I’d recommend a slightly larger metal or plastic shim, to spread the load of weight and pressure. Some mounts are really wide and will work great the way they are.
I would say a downside for this, the vb is heavy and your going to need a really sturdy rig to hold it in place and have longevity. With my design you could remove the vb to preserve spring life on the arms, but that’s something to consider.
I’d like to make a headset to wear it. I think hat would be pretty sweet! Also I’m interested in the VGA out mod I’ve heard about.
I think I was able to get a head strap/neck lanyard setup going a while ago. If you attach a neck lanyard to the VB somewhere by the stand medallion, then adjust the legs just right, the system will basically be “standing” on your chest. The stand may have to be put on backwards, but I was able to get it working somewhat comfortably.
The headstrap was cool but as mentioned above, the VB is kind of heavy…after a while it hurts to wear.
My main issue is that I can’t even begin to do this properly. I looked for a lamp like the one that has the screw holes in the same place as the Virtual Boy stand, and I gave up after hitting two different office stores.
So I was hoping someone had an idea of what it would take so I could just order the supplies online.
My only real option is probably this lamp stand so I can move it around and position it in front of my eyes. I’m way too skinny to rest the stand on my chest lol (it’d just be hitting against bones).
You could also buy this clamp:
and use/buy a tripod, that should get you a similar level of comfortability, is easy to use and not that expensive.

Huh, I’ve never seen that before.
I wonder if there are any adjustable Tripod mounts that would be similar to the lamp-o-tron, so I could move the VB in front of my face instead of having to move my body into the VB lol
