Hey Everyone. I had a few people ask me to make these. I know the “for display only” box exists. But what does everyone think about a box without that on it? Is it worth making or should we all just have to get that “FDO” box?

It’d essentially be the same box without the little box on the front that say for display only. Maybe add a UPC code to the back.

Thoughts?

I agree, i think there should be something on the box stating that it is a reproduction, or even some sort of PVB limited addition release logo on it.

I wouldn’t go *too* wild with this – I really enjoy the consistency of being able to set the current reproduction boxes next to released games, and not be able to tell a difference “at a glance.” I wouldn’t mind a somewhat more pronounced indication on the back/bottom of the box, but I’d like to preserve the “clean” look of the fronts of Bound High/Space Pinball. After all, that’s what they’re designed for, right? To look like the official boxes.

I am also on the No side of the fence for the Mario Tennis box. It’s a combination of considerations.

Let’s start with who wants a box for any game:
Only collectors, players are happy with just a cart.
If only collector’s want any box, then they would ONLY want a legitimate box where one exists.
Thus, there is no customer base for a repro box for Mario Tennis.

— Regarding the rest of the box ideas:

English Gundam, as a CIB, YES
US Demo Wario and Red Alarm:
YES! I would love these. I also agree with Dor-Si, a clear window cutout would be marvelous. Even a simple box design would be perfect. Doesn’t need to be elegant, but black red coloring would be sufficient.

I’m agree with you. If we start to make Mario Tennis repro boxes , what’s next? Maybe a Virtual Bowling complete repro 🙁

my meaning is that evry game that have been released originall in usa or japan may not get a repro edition.

I know some prices are very high off the originall games but people can allways play them on the flashboy

but thats just how i think

I love Flashboy+, unfortunately it only accepts 1 game at a time. But yea, its still a great device.

Heh..i can pretty much assure you..we won’t be making repo’s of games you can buy 🙂

Unless…there are translation patches..or patches that change the game enough…

I’d be down for a repro of the Mario box so I could display one, But it’d have to be pretty cheep. Like, is $15 even feasible for you (if it was just the box, and we could find our own cart cardboard cart holder?)

Just make it say “Reproduction” Where it says “For Display Only”. Easy simple solution, and should cause no confusion whatsoever.

Haha. I was welcoming you as kind of a joke! haha. Cause we have talked a lot! Was slightly bizarre to me to see that that was your first post! I had to welcome!

I hope you change your mind someday about that Mario’s Tennis box. I’ve seen earlier posts say that it isn’t too expensive, but I can’t seem to find one for less than $80, and that’s way too much for me. It’s the only VB game I have without a box, and it would really make the completist in me happy.

I also would like to see this continued. I don’t care if the box had all 4 sides with “Reproduction” written. I am just against paying $80-100 for a box.

I’ll keep it in consideration. But likely no. I’d hate to muddy any waters with fake real boxes!

But I could consider some kind of alternate box art for it. Maybe a site wide art competition for a designed version different than the original display box. Totally unique.

Yeah, I’d rather there not be a “fake” Mario Tennis box out there. That being said I’m totally down for US boxes of Japanese only games (can’t wait to see the Gundam translated Box; don’t forget the extra Bandai logos!)
