Hello all,

I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Kevin. I’ve had a Virtual Boy now for almost a year. I currently own 5 VB carts and hope to continuing adding more to the collection.

I was wondering if someone may be able to help me with a question I have (hopefully this is an okay place to ask this. If not, just let me know): I’ve read a little bit about the Flash Boy Plus and it sounds pretty darn cool. Are these still available to purchase? Also, can you play the homebrew games from this site using the FlashBoy?

Thanks for any help!

The FlashBoy is a completely legal fan-made device that does not alter *any* coding to bypass security features and is intended to let the VB community enjoy new software and games on the VB made by VB fans. The VB has no OS, so all VB files can be played on the VB. The Flashboy Plus is still available for purchase:

Not sure if it’s the 3DS launch, but this isn’t the first rom legality related thread this week regarding the “if this is okay to ask”.

Welcome to the forums if you’re a real VB fan. What 5 VB games do you own?

Welcome to Planet Virtual Boy kevster!

I hope you enjoy it here, I sure do! this is my favorite website!

as for the FlashBoy plus question I think VirtualJockey explained the FlashBoy plus pretty well, so I don’t really have anything to add… except that I want a FlashBoy someday too for all those cool looking Homebrew games… [size=xx-small]and Bound High! 😛

so what are the 5 Virtual Boy games you have? I have 5 games too! Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, Red Alarm, Mario’s Tennis and… Mario’s Tennis (this one would be the Japanese version, does that count as a fifth game?)

EDIT: oops, I forgot that I recently got Virtual League Baseball, so I have actually 6 Virtual Boy games!

Thanks for the responses! First off, my question wasn’t meant as a legality inquiry, so sorry if it came off that way. My comment about asking if this was an okay place to ask this was a bit confusing I suppose. I meant it as in “is this the right part of the forum for this question”. But thank you very much for the response as well as the link!

I am indeed a VERY big fan of the VB. The five games I own are Mario’s Tennis, Mario Clash, Teleroboxer, VB Wario Land, and Virtual League Baseball. My most wanted games right now (in order) are: 1. Vertical Force 2. Jack Bros 3. Galactic Pinball 4. Red Alarm and 5. 3D Tetris.

I also just saw a video on a Japan only release called Space Squash. If I ever come across an affordable copy of that I will pick it up for sure! Looked real good.

I just completed VB Wario Land for the first time last week. That game is super smooth. I’m planning on going back to it in a little while to get the other endings. My first time through I got the second worst ending…

Anyway, looking forward to having a place to chat with other Virtual Boy owners. The most underrated system ever in my opinion!

Cool, here’s the Flashboy section:

I think you’ll enjoy the games on your wishlist too. You may want to consider V-Tetris instead of 3D Tetris if you prefer the classic.
