First off. Here is the final box design. I wanted to get everyone that wanted one’s approval before going through with these.

The Box and Manual combo will be $25
Box only $15
Manual Only $12
I’d suggest paying up front to make sure you get one. I don’t know how many I will be making. Roughly 50 combo’s I’d say, and then that’s likely it. Pm me for my paypal info or you can directly email me at vince@uncletusk.com. I look forward to this being the first of many VB repros boxes. I’d say these will be available in about 2-3 weeks for shipping.
Reserved Copies
BigMak – 2 combo’s
Gwyndion – 1 combo
Here is the updated box. Only thing changed is the misspelling on the back side!
Thanks!

I’m also really excited to get this going and get some of the boxes for some of the homebrews going.
Just contact me with thoughts on what you all think would be best to do. Or post here. I check her periodically now. I have so many fond memories of the VB.

I’m excited too! How excited? “As happy as a witch in a broom factory!” That’s how excited! π

You’re just chalk full of these metaphors aren’t you? Just like a teacher!

For a long time, I have wanted a special cartridge, box, and instruction booklet for Krisse’s 3 games, so BLOX, BLOX 2, and VUE Snake. I already got a special box and cartridge for VUE Snake for my latest birthday, but I know it’s not “official,” so I’d want official ones and a manual would be cool, too. I also know that BLOX 2 has problems with the save function on hardware, which needs to be fixed before it can be released as a cartridge.
Nevertheless, I propose these 3 games as the first homebrew games to be on the radar for manual and box releases. I know Krisse is busy and might not have time lately to design instruction booklets or boxes for these right now, but I throw my wishes out there anyway. π

What games are highly available on cartridges right now? Those would be the ones I’d love to do first. To see how it goes from here. I’ll contact Krisse.
I think it would be a good idea to start a new topic (maybe including a poll) and just ask people around here in which Hombrew-Boxes they would be interested.

Great idea! Is there a full list of these games?
You can find a list here:

I’m just making sure I didn’t screw anything up that I don’t know about VB games. I’m an NES collector. I’m very confident in this design. The world is what was designed by someone else. I’m not sure who. But I touched up the color a little bit and used it.That’s all. Small grammar errors and what not.
I was the original designer.
Does that mean I get a free box?
My original box shape was based on an actual Virtual Boy game box that I had at my desk at the time. Your cut/fold paths are different from what I had — did you use a Gameboy Advance box as your starting point?

I recreated the shape using an actual VB game I have. Galactic Pinball. It is as exact as possible I could get to the original. Your cornering was slightly off. Not a big deal. I just want it to perfectly match. I recreated all the side graphics from your design and re did the back and all wordings. Redid all the background to match the actual boxes. All that’s yours is the front design. If enough people get one I have no problem sending you copy. I understand your work and effort. PM your address.
I like your work UncleTusker and think that your doing a really good job. However that being said I’m curious why Nintendo never made a cross-eye 3d image of the screen on the back of the box or even a 3d sticker hologram for the screen shot. They may of had more takers if they would of tried this approach.>B

That does sound awesome. I’m not sure I’ll be doing any modding to the original design now, but definitely cool to keep in mind for the homebrew games!
I have a question concerning the inside of the box; will there be an area made to hold the cartridge?
Or will the prints be of the box “shell” only?

A very good question. I was wondering that as well. Also, if you are producing the inlays for the boxes (like you do for the SNES boxes) are you going to sell them separately?

The box inside will be like any other VB box, empty. I will try and make up some inlays, but I doubt I’ll have any done any time soon. Is there a big interest for inlays?
