I’m an undergraduate studying Fine Art at CSM London. I recently purchased a Flashboy Plus cartridge from you. I’m currently making work for my degree show and was wondering if you’d be interested in writing a basic piece of software for the virtual boy for a fee?

I’ve been struggling to get my head round the development wiki, and i’m now concerned i won’t have enough time before the degree show submission deadline (May 4th) to develop the program. I want to display two separate fixed images. The first image i want broken up into four layers. i’d like the second image to be a bit of flashing text stating “ASTRO 2014”. The idea is to be able to scroll between the two different screens (left and right). I’d also like the program to be accompanied by a piece of music (Loop). Is it possible to convert Wav files? I’ve attached a prospective image (The one that needs to be broken into four layers) and music to this e-mail.

How much money would you require to complete this sort of commission? If this isn’t your sort of thing, would you be able to point me in the direction of someone who can help?

Any of you programming wizards want to help this guy ?

You can contact him at bradleysteptoe@gmail.com

I don’t want to sound mean but isn’t it cheating if you pay someone to do your homework? There are plenty of examples available on this site that should allow someone with a basic knowledge of c to put the graphical part together within some days.

Oh yeah… there is absolutely no way around it. He intends to cheat.

What does he mean by “broken up into four layers?” If he means add depth, I don’t know of any software that can automagically 3D-ify a 2D image…

Then let him keep drudging through the “development wiki”. Nobody tell him about the tech scroll. (-:

I really like your words. “Automagically”, “3D-ify”…

😛

Heh, well to be fair, I wouldn’t expect an undergrad in “Fine Art” to have a clue how to program a VCR, let alone figure out how to program an old video game system. I’m guessing their professor would have no expectation of them actually writing the code… it’s probably the artsy presentation of it that matters.

On a side note… does anyone still have a VCR??? Maybe that saying needs an update. How about programming a DVR?

My wife still has her VCR and some tapes.

I still hunt down VCR tapes at thrift stores. Some stuff has never been transferred to DVD, let alone blu-ray. But programming a VCR? can’t say i’ve had the need to do that in the last 5+ years. in the beginning when DVR wasn’t as reliable i would double record some things, but now with netflix and everything else there isn’t much of a need for entertainment redundancy in my home.

I just spent two weeks copying family videos from VHS to DVD. I can’t say I will EVER offer that to anyone, and that’s exactly what I told my wife…. and not even a day later she told me she spoke with her mother and her mother has 2 boxes full of tapes she’d like to dupe over.

Let’s just say I gave her mother the number to the local Costco… lol.

I would honestly ask him, was it for a grade for class? or was it to enhance his own artwork? Obviously it’s too late to see about it now.

Haha! I just bought a VCR for $5 at a thrift store. Haven’t tried it yet, but if it works, great. I have a few tapes I’d like to watch sometime.
