I got really lucky. There was a auction on Yahoo Japan that had the mosaic vb and tap (with some games). In one of the pictures you kinda saw something in the background..I thought I knew what it was..and it wasn’t listed in the auction. But, the price was very good (even with shipping), so I picked it up.
Turns out it’s the small Nintendo Japanese display stand. It was missing one bracket for a leg, but other wise ..it was fine.
Basically, the virtual boy stands on a plastic base. The legs lock into place with these brackets. There is an ‘arm’ on the back of the stand that the controller fits on.
What I didn’t know..an ad for the demo game came with the stand. It’s two sided..on one side it shows the controls on how to play one of the demo games..the other is a picture of the demo game. I guess this ad was placed in front or near the front of the stand..but the store owner actually placed mine on top of the ‘virtual boy’ lettering on the front of the stand. This was actually good 🙂 the ad didn’t get thrown away when the VB was packed up again.
I know there are some other collectors out there with this stand..did any of you also have ad’s with them ? Do you display it with the ad..where do did you put them ect…
I think someone mentioned that they saw a Wario land ad….
I have ordered this kind of stand today.
For a horrendous amount of money.
But being a virtual boy fan is like having diabetes. You can´t get rid off it.
I am even not sure if it comes with the brackets for the controller.
EDIT: seeing that one has been sold here 8 years ago for 349€ gives me a slightly better feeling…
EDIT 2: got the confirmation that the stand is without any screws or brackets, so I will have to build something on my own. Dudeway4 already offered me his help on getting the dimensions for the brackets.
And I got it a bit cheaper because there are some scratches on it. Hopefully they can be polished out in some way.
