I hope that this info can be interest for KR155E in order to make new flash π

Gloating is not a good look for you Akumie…
I’m honestly not trying to be a dick or anything, but thank god I hopped onto the first batch. I can’t believe how rare of an item this thing is becoming.
When you have a system like a virtual boy who’s games are super tough to even come across the flashboy becomes your best friend. That’s the reason I didn’t think twice about the price before buying it.
Yeah same here
I think I got mine around 25 august 2008 and yes it was expensive but I knew I wanted one to play many games since for example golf dosnt work on emulator
Also homebrew on the vb is sweet
The ironic part is that I actually never thought back in the day that I should get the flashboy because it would be rare
I had always thought that only 200 flashboys at most would be made because the demand would be low
Sometimes I am amazed that so many people actually want a flashboy because I thought most people play vb games on emulator and then quickly get tired of it
Oh well, no one is perfect
If you would play VB on emulation only you WOULD get tired of it quickly…
I have my home-built eprom cart so playing all games is not a problem. I’d like to be able to play all new games fast and easy.
Of course, you are both right…emulated VB gaming nowhere near matches playing on the proper kit.
Which is why I want a Flashboy!
I have a friend looking out for those chips in bulk and if anyone can find them, he can. Fingers crossed here for batch to turn up soon.
π
It’s no problem finding them, but finding them at a proper price is difficult. 5V eproms of that size and capacity is tricky.
Kri55e – what amount is needed and which maximum price is OK?
Just curious, why not use a widely available cheaper chip that’s close to the one you need. Will the whole cart circuit board have to be remade? And if so, how much more work could that take being that you have completed the older chip model?

Besides a possible board re-design (and probably an attendant firmware re-write), there’s also the simple fact that 5V devices are getting rare (I’m not even sure if they are still being made). Chips with 5V-tolerant I/O should be available for a while, but are probably more expensive than purely “low-voltage” devices. However, even if 5V-tolerant devices are used, the board will probably need a re-design to include the 3.3V (or lower) regulator to supply the chip(s). And if purely-low-voltage devices are used, there’s the regulator and voltage conversion for all the I/O. So, it’s better all-around to use the current device, as long as it’s economically viable.
A bit of good news. I’ve now secured a large batch of the chips, enough to make FlashBoy’s for a long, long time.
I should be back in production by the end of this month.
That’s great news! Is there anything we can do? Like sending a game for the case when you pre-order or something?
I have quite a few donor games left, so it is not (yet) necessary to send one in when ordering a FlashBoy. But, if anyone has some spare cartridges, I’d like to buy them to secure future batches. Due to international shipping costs, that’d only make sense if it were at least like 5 games, though.
I have a Nester’s Funky Bowling spare cartridge . If you want it I’ll send you free . I hope to get a new Flashboy , the last one that I bought doesn’t work π

I’ll send you a new PCB to put in your cart shell. Do you have the screwdriver to open it ?
PM me.

Thanks for the offer, but I can’t take it. Nester’s Funky Bowling is too rare to use it as a donor cartridge with a clean conscience. π If you sold it instead, you could get quite a few Euro for it.
More details: There will be a new batch of 50 FlashBoys “this summer”. Mid/late August I guess. We’ll announce more details when we have them, pre orders will start once we got all the parts and can put a final price tag on the new units.

Ok , I’ll try to sell, but it’s too difficult . I got it free when I bought Wario Land USA because the plastic cover is stained . If I sell it , I will donate all euros to PLANETVB. Any offer? π

Thank you very much !! . But first of all I’ll try to load roms in another laptop , because it doesn’t work very well , and secondly I’ll try downloading Flashboy software . If my Flashboy still not work, I send you a PM
