While I’m not a programmer I thought I’d start this topic to help all you programmers out there who might want some idea of what demo/game that the community might like to see.
I like the idea of a racing game. VB racing and VB Mario kart are fantastic demos but I’d love to see these expanded on or even a new type, F-zero or wave race spring to mind.
Just like to here other peoples ideas. But whatever ever get produced I can’t wait to upload it to my flashboy and give it blast.
I would like to see a port of Doom or Wolfenstein. I think the 3D effect would work great with such a game.
The VB needs more platformers. a 2D styled platformer would be a lot of fun.
An RPG would be great. I played a few homebrew projects that only took about 2 hrs to beat but had great RPG elements. With the addition of 3D (buildings reached up toward our eyes, trees stretched to the sun, spells wrapped all around enemies) so many effects could be added to bring life to such a game.
A rogue-like dungeon crawler with 3D environments would be a lot of fun. Imagine all the elements and characters used an angled camera, so its like top-down but with depth.
I always wanted to see VB remakes of Shadowgate, Deja Vu, and The Uninvited. Those games would work really well on the VB. The 3D would aid each scene while the second d-pad could be used to control various pop-up menus so that the screen wasn’t cluttered with interface (like the original NES ports).
Something like Dragon’s Lair would be really fun. Cartoon-like sprites in a story driven game. The 3D would work great here as well.
There are some really fun Atari games that would be great on the VB. Simple games like Pitfall, Jungle Hunt, Sea Quest, etc. Basic games that would benefit from the 3D depth.
A Mega Man game would be fun for the Virtual Boy. Like a fan made game, a port of the Game Boy or NES games, or maybe an improved version of the Wonderswan game Rockman & Forte: Challengers from the Future.
Other ideas could be an adventure game like Castlevania or Metroid and a game like Gunstar Heroes that has multiple gameplay styles: run and gun, vertical shooter, and horizontal shooter. Something along the lines of a Super Game Boy/Game Boy Player/PS Vita TV for the Virtual Boy would be awesome too.

You mean an emulator running on the VB?

I meant being able to play Virtual Boy games on a TV like you can do with Game Boy games using the Super Game Boy.

I originally said I got ya covered, but I’m reconsidering if I’d rather go with a different idea.

Okay, it’s official. In the interest of keeping things simple, even after two weeks of planning a new game, I’ve opted for a different project. It’s still a game, but I’m thinking it’ll remain a sekret for a while longer. (-:
It does, however, satisfy one of the suggestions in this thread.
Would be cool if someone made for the vb a game with like 100 mini games in it or perhaps a warioware game

This would be great :] Or a space opera shooter / simulator, like Xwing (1993).
I figured I’d make my own list of some of the best games I’d like to see on the Virtual Boy! 😀
Doom and/or Wolfenstein 3D (Of course.)
Tempest 2000
Shadow Squadron
Terminator 2: The Arcade Game
Silpheed (Sega CD Version)
Space Harrier
Mega Man
Wario Ware
Virtual Boy Camera (Like the Game Boy Camera)
Nintendo World Championships VB
Berserk
Super Smash Bros.
Dr. Mario
Mario Party
Paper Mario
Pilot-Wings
I know some of these might seem impossible, but I’m sure if you water them down just enough they would make great Virtual Boy games! :3
Tempest! That’s a GREAT idea, just think of the depth… also possibly you could have a dual mode where you control two different ones, one with each d-pad, using the corresponding shoulder button to shoot

Yeah that should totally happen!
