A couple months ago, I bought teleroboxer and it saved perfectly. Yesterday a the data was gone and I tried to make a new save, it got erased after I turned it off. What can I do and can you tell me what the problem is?
Guys its not much big of a deal. I just learned how to solder over the weekend with the help of my dad. He even bought me a soldering wand. Not only that, all I need is to buy one of those batteries so my copy of teleroboxer will save. I can get all the way to the fourth robot withut dying, so that will help because I get bored after losing once or twice lolz

Same here, but mostly because I’m afraid of screwing up.

exactly why I’ve never tried π

I wasn’t trying to give Jake a hard time, and I certainly wasn’t “ragging on the kid for not knowing how to solder and such”. I was merely pointing out his lack of self esteem and showing him an example of what someone with a “can-do” attitude… can do π even with limited resources.I wasn’t suggesting that he should already know how to design and manufacture commercial grade electronic devices that work the first time they’re powered up. But I do think soldering is a handy skill to have (especially if one is the owner of a game console requiring as much maintenance as the Virtual Boy) and well within the physical, mental, and (almost certainly) financial faculties available to him.
@gunpeiyokoifan: no time like the present! Go find everything about or produced by Jeri Ellsworth; then get a cheap iron, some solder, some old electronics nobody wants (clock-radios are fun, as are old PC cards, mice, etc.), and some good tutorial videos.
Well it seemed you were giving him a hard time, basically making him feel inferior to you when you were at that age. Being interested in the VB doesn’t automatically make you interested in electronics and such…

We were just yankin’ his chain, man. Like I said, at his age I was a total screw up. Even though at his age I was no adult, I didn’t feel like a “just a little boy”. Possibly a poor choice of words on his and my part in response, but I didn’t want him to talk about himself in such an manner lacking confidence on a freakin’ video game forum.
This is the real world, and we’re all here for games. Some can dev homebrews, some can’t. Some can/want to afford boxed Virtual Bowling carts, some can’t or don’t care.
No, I don’t know VB-X’s situation. I don’t dislike the kid nor did I mean to be cruel to him. I just wanted him to man-up and feel like he could converse with us and not feel like “just a little boy”. If he is “just a little boy”, he’s not exactly going to enjoy his stay on any forum. I may sound harsh, but at least I’m being honest. For the time being, I’ll take his choice of words as a fluke, same as mine if they were in poor taste.
Edit:
I regret ever posting in this thread. I feel bad if I hurt VB-X’s feelings, and my true honest opinions may be too harsh. I’d rather tell the truth than be a liar, but I guess I should shut my trap at times.

I’m not sure where you got that, since I didn’t refer to myself at all in this thread π
I actually compared him to a then-14-year-old Malawian “boy” who built a windmill generator… out of garbage… during a nation-wide famine… by looking at pictures in a library book(!).
Being interested in the VB doesn’t automatically make you interested in electronics and such…
…and I never even implied that, nor did anyone else, that I can see. I think you need to stop projecting your own insecurities onto other people π
(And in case you can’t tell by the little emoticon, that last bit was a joke…)
@VirtualJockey: please speak for yourself, thank you. I was not “yankin’ his chain,” I was trying to get him to improve himself; to see himself as capable and useful, which he obviously took to heart since he’s already learned how to solder!
Way to go, Jake! I hope you don’t stop at fixing Teleroboxer. I hate to say it, but I kinda hope your VB’s displays start glitching to force you to do the permanent fix π NO, WAIT, I TAKE IT BACK, NOOOOOOO! π

You’ll never learn anything unless you screw up. When I was 13 I screwed up plenty of electronics… my Dreamcast (trying to portable-ize it), my Gameboy Color (trying to backlight the screen), I’ve even ruined a VB display before. Screw-ups are valuable learning experiences and I hope your fear doesn’t keep you from having fun and learning a thing or two along the way.
Here’s a good video to watch that may help you get over your fear. It’ll probably inspire our female audience as well (gunpeiyokoifan) since the one giving the lesson in the vid is also a female.

Sorry sorry, got your post and someone else’s post confused. I’ll just stop talking now, this thread has gone way off track.
Actually my VB already has the glitching issue. I just blow some of my breath in between the cracks near the stereo boxes and it stops glitching for a good ten minutes. I just ordered a gamebit online as well to open up the cart, as well as my other carts safely.

don’t wish that upon me too π―
EDIT: I heard blowing on cartridges actually shortens the life of them due to the moisture that can go onto it from your mouth so… if you are blowing onto the VB’s speaker area… ehh… π
Sorry I havnt replied in a while, Ive been grounded from my PC and Ipod touch lately. I just got a new battery and soldered the new one on with the tabs, I used a gamebit to open the cart as well, it came from ebay and works better than the bits I normally buy
