In this thread we all want to post cool, spectacular, noteworthy, jaw-dropping […] Virtual Boy auctions on ebay, Yahoo or any other site…
At first here are two auctions on Yahoo Japan (Always cooool stuff on there!) for the japanese Nintendo Store Display:

Not trying to stir up trouble, just trying to get the facts straight. My memory of around $400 each was close to my old records. My records show that the two Panic Bomber auctions ended for around $300US and $550US respectively. Since these auctions were from around 1998, I’ll lay out the math for the given prices from that year. On average in 1998 $300US bought 238£, and $550US bought 436£. That’s $850US / 674£ for both Panic bomber auctions combined, or averaged as $425US / 337£ each.
Now, an e-mail from realwws sent in 2010 claims that 300 and 550 were the actual prices of the Panic Bomber protos, but in Euros. That still makes them 850 Euro for both averaging at 425 Euro each. But, he said that taxes were almost 30% and that he had to pay a fee of 10%. Current customs duties in the Netherlands is 5-8% and VAT is 19%, so we’ll go on the high end of 27% (almost 30% as realwws accurately stated)
Okie dokey, so given that if my records were wrong (which they very well may have been) these would have been the prices using his numbers and his fees stated:
Auction #1: 300Euros + 10% deputy fees + 27% VAT/Customs = 419.10Euros total
Auction #2: 550Euros + 10% deputy fees + 27% VAT/Customs = 768.50Euros total
(I can’t be certain if the deputy fees were included or not on the customs form, so I included them to keep prices at the higher range)
While 768.50Euro for the more expensive one of his auctions is close to his 800Euro claim, the average price for each of the Panic Bomber carts would come out to 593.80 Euro each.
He said the Jack bros was 800Euro, but I’m not certain if he meant before or after the Deputy/VAT fees. I never saw that auction.
So that’s that. I apologize for any previous posts that were inaccurate on pricing. Since the above pricing would have been in 1998, we’ll just have to wait and see how the market is now given the variations in VB demand and lackluster 2012 economy. I wish good luck to realwws on his auctions and good luck to prospective buyers.
“the rom’s have never been dumped before, so there is a big chance that the game is different but no guarantee.”
I personally still think that an auction at this price, you should test your stuff and give a complete review of it.

Congrats. You got a really good deal too. $300 is very very cheap. The 2nd Panic Bomber proto also went cheap….but not as cheap…$550. Its still a very good deal.
It will be interesting to see if there are any differences between the protos. For anyone who wanted to buy one of the protos….maybe you should contact the seller and ask if he has more… 😉

custom hard shell cases.
not sure if anyone has posted this link, i came across it and it looked interesting. very similar to a project i’ve wanted to start but i have been unable to find the foam for sale.
10 brand new japanese taps, in a VB shipping box.
Virtual Boy System Kiosk/POS Display WITH Virtual Boy, $499 buy-it-now. local pick up only, NJ USA. has a cracked plastic area where the art goes, missing original art work.
I had my eye on the taps for a while, but I don’t like that he’s opened it and retaped.
I also wondered why I really wanted 10 taps, it just seemed a poor spend so I put it towards a new game instead.

OH that one again, I seem to recall it being up a while back. The ‘crack’ is not a crack its a big chunk missing, you can see in the photos. I reckon you could get that bit remade at almost any plastic fabricators, just a bit of folded polycarbonate with mount holes.

He says right in the auction that the opened box is just a sample, and that the one you will get is unopened.
I must’ve mis-read – I thought that was about the removed tap.
I’ll send a message I think, maybe he’s got a bunch.
i picked up a new japanese tap and found that i haven’t had a use for it. i don’t know what i would do with a whole case, but it would be a cool collectors item!
