That is a shame, yes. Treating the VB unit itself like a “lot” where each individual piece will be sold off. Why is that one $55 anyway? I hope that’s a typo, his other ones are 25 as far as I remember.

What I hate is when stands and visors are listed for $50-100 each. I know it’s a free market, but damn…

this seller lost$$found pisses me off. apparently they like to pull apart working VB units and sell them as parts.

anyways, i’m more posting this here because i read some recent threads from users looking for spare cables to solder. they often pop-up on ebay from this seller.

Not cheap… 🙁

Even though it is not exclusively a Virtual Boy Vest, I definitely think that it deserves a place in the Merchandise section of this site, as the primary colors of red and black show which system was meant to shine the most.

LOL. I don’t care if that is considered “rare”, that key chain is not worth that asking price. Maybe $50… Maybe.

The issue with stuff like jackets and key chains is that if you don´t have a museum like setup where you can properly display that stuff it will just lie around in some drawer as you cannot really do anything useful with it.
When you buy stuff like the Virtual Boy headphones, even they are useless and maybe not the best headphones, you can at least do something with it.

It has a “make-offer” button. So maayyyyybeeee he’ll take $200.

(…not from me!)

Let’s 3D-print some!!!

300 yeah.. maybe in the next century.. 50$ seems reasonable to me also..

I’d say: good luck with that dude!

Hat only? just 199$

note the text there:

” Unlike the system itself, this hat won’t give you a headache. You might have the opposite sex randomly approach you on the street and give you their phone number, because you’ll be looking super fly. ”

what a joke..

1- that hat’s description sounds familiar, I remember that joke. This was a while ago though, looks like nobody fell for his sales pitch…

2- regarding that buckle keychain, $500 is crazy man! Rarity-wise, I’m sure it’s less common than Virtual Bowling (maybe heh). But when you stop and think about what it is you’re buying, no way. You could pay Vista Print like $20 TOPS and get something nearly identical.

3- That vest is at least more substantial and does seem somewhat VB-focused with the colors as Benjamin said.

Reminds me of why I stopped collecting Hot Wheels, too many people charging $10+ each for rusty, scratched 3-wheeled cars because they’re convinced all old-ish items like that are priceless.

Still, they have a right to list whatever price they want :-p

Crazy, I’m not sure whether this belonged to Gunpei or if it’s a book about his creations or both. It mentions “gameboy” on the front in katakana.

It has virtual boy on the front also (I think)..or it was listed under virtual boy on yahoo japan.

I could be wrong since I’m no Japanese expert by any means. I think Virtual Boy is usually written in katakana since the origin of the words are English. I don’t see baachurubooi, but I do see “geemubooi”(gameboy), and “ten birion” (ten billion?). I don’t see it mentioned in the smaller writing either. But I do see game & watch mentioned on the back, so my guess it’s to do with what he’s created. That shouild mean the Virtual Boy is mentioned in there, maybe it just didn’t make the cover..

If you look at the second photo at the very bottom, you can definitely see バー, and it looks like the next character that is being cut off is チ. Thus, this could be part of “Virtual Boy,” in which case the book would actually contain some amount of Virtual Boy coverage, and the auction’s description isn’t just the seller’s attempt to draw VB fans to the auction.

■ Yokoi Gunpey game museum aspect previous version Nintendo Virtual Boy

Is the yahoo translated title of the auction.

Figure it’s a history of what he’s made.

Good eye, I didn’t even notice that.

I didn’t think the seller was pulling one on us, I just didn’t see anything about the virtual boy on the front and back covers. I would expect the book to contain stuff about the Virtual Boy, it’s just not very obvious from the choice of where they put it. Since the book is from 1997, maybe they didn’t want it so prominent since it was pretty soon after the VB’s failure in the market.
