In the episode called “The Foundation” (19 Sep. 1996) at around the 12 minute mark the Virtual Boy can be seen in George’s Apartment on his desk.

the interesting part to me is what is the reason for that appearing. was it the writer, producer, set designer? was it one of the actors? i’d rather know the history behind that scene than just the fact that it exists. my curiosity gears are turning.

I just saw this last night. I’m totally with you I’d love to know who and why that placed it in his apartment. My guess was maybe it was the art director….but, I haven’t found any proof of that. I’ll keep digging and see what I can find.

See also this thread on the subject of the Virtual Boy appearing in both Seinfeld and Frasier:

It was noted there that NBC teamed up with Blockbuster during the Must See 3-D Sweepstakes advertising campaign for the Virtual Boy, so the appearances of the Virtual Boy in NBC shows at that time were likely deliberate advertising attempts for the Virtual Boy.

It was also noted that these shows were on NBC at the time:

Friends
Mad About You
Hope and Gloria
Madmen of the People
The Single Guy
Caroline in the City

Nobody has confirmed whether the Virtual Boy made an appearance in any of the episodes of one of these programs, but it is very possible that it did. I was planning to check the Friends season of the year 1995 but never got around to it.

Right on. Sorry for the double post.

Since I just happened to grab a shot the last time I went through Frasier…I think I was telling my friend about this, who didn’t believe me until I sent proof.

Whoever was in charge of putting the VB into the Frasier episode must have been a Sega fan, since the box is suspiciously facing the wrong way…

Yeah I made a topic on this too, but it was about “Frasier” instead.
