The coming fall will be all red and black with the third Planet Virtual Boy Coding Competition starting right now! It will run for the rest of the year, until January 1, 2014. Could there be any better way to spend your time during the cold season than to create hot new Virtual Boy homebrews?

After the 4 months competition period spanning September 1 through December 31, the usual secret PVB community vote will find the winner, whose project will see a limited complete-in-box production run! Many thanks to Minestorm, Uncle Tusker and bigmak for making this possible! And, while I am at it, thanks to Hedgetrimmer and morintari for their support with the official poster plus many others for continuously reminding me to finally hold another competition. 😉

This is great news. I hope we see some awesome projects come from this. The Virtual Boy has untapped potential. There is no reason we can not have more commercial quality homebrew projects than actual official releases. All this competition needs is some press. If you belong to a reto community, a gaming site, a coding site, or have friends who love game development, 3D, etc, then get the word out. Let everyone know! 2013 will be the year of the Virtual Boy!

The logo is actually a hommage to the logo of a certain Virtual Boy game, which also has that detail. Makes it look more interesting. 🙂

We are currently planning to create a litle game for the compo. 🙂

Will the participants get printed posters of the Compo as last time? I still have got my poster from 2010 on my wall. =)
