found a VB today within driving distance in the box for $150.
good deal?
not sure yet if it has the manual and stuff, but it does have the console, stand, controller, and battery pack along with a CIB copy of galactic pinball.
i think i’m gonna pick it up regardless, cuz my VB is on the fritz and i want a boxed one anyway.. just fishing for opinions
thanks

My boxed VB was around $145. The box is in decent condition but it is nothing to be proud of. It came with all the inserts and everything, plus 4 games and the AC adapter tap. In the end, the box went into storage and the VB got its own case that I picked up at a thrift shop.
If you are just grabbing a new VB to replace the old one, what is wrong with the old one? Are you just getting the glitchy display issue? That can be fixed by soldering your cables. The new VB will probably have the same issue or develop it in time. The glue degrading is just a matter of time. So instead of a second system you might just considering picking up extra ribbon cables or asking someone to fix your current system. I’m sure one of the talented modders on this board would be happy to assist you in soldering your ribbon cables.
not looking to replace the old one, i’ve been looking for a boxed one for a bit. it’d be nice to have one to use while the other gets repaired. the cib galactic pinball is tasty as well, since my other copy is just a loose cart
Well, within driving distance is a nice perk. But in my opinion I think $150 is high just for a box. If you are willing to buy one off eBay, you should be able to snag something for around $100 or close to $150 with games and other things included. I guess it all comes down to how fast you want it and how convenient driving is vs. shipping. I’m a gamer, not a collector. So while I can see the appeal of boxes and mint packaging, they just end up in a closet where I won’t enjoy them until it comes time to sell them.

Well, complete in box copies of Galactic Pinball sell for $25.00 on average, so that leaves you with a $125.00 boxed system. If the system truly does comes complete with the manual and everything is in good condition, I would say that it is definitely a fair deal and about what such goes for on a regular basis. It is also true that a lot of people are even willing to pay a good bit more for such, so you definitely shouldn’t regret the purchase for the price.
went ahead and picked it up. the system definitely has the manual and is in beautiful shape. everything is in a lot better condition than my other unit, which was an ebay score.
very happy.
thanks for the feedback, regardless
