My husband, his best friend and I went to a NAVA gathering today to see what video game goodies we could get. We came across this Virtual Boy kiosk but sadly it wasn’t working but still nice to find in a local store. The store is Digital Press Video Games in Clifton, NJ. They sell online as well as storefront. Personally I think there’s better places to shop but it’s nice if you need something quick or don’t feel like waiting for shipping.

I picked up a second NES controller and California Games to temporarily play and then steal the case for my Everdrive N8 I ordered.

Nice find, shame it wasn’t working.

Should have told the manager about a certain guy you know who’s handy with a soldering iron… πŸ˜‰

BTW, nice “unintentional selfie” in the infinity mirror πŸ˜€

Cool… I’d love to make it up for one of the NAVA gatherings, but I don’t go through NY/NJ very often, and have never been near there during a gathering. πŸ™ I know a lot of the Digital Press people from Classic Gaming Expo… they’re really cool, and they’ve got a nice store.

Funny enough, I also picked up a California Games when I was there… except it was for the Sega Master System.

Haha I totally should have! They do repairs in house but not sure if they would bother fixing VB displays. Lol yeah that’s about as close as I get to taking selfies. By the way, I sent out the displays a couple days ago. You should get them Monday I believe.

This was my first one. Had it not been for a fellow retro gamer friend of mine telling me I wouldn’t have known. I’ve gone to the store a couple times before to purchase some games and misc accessories and they have a really good selection. Sometimes the prices can be a bit high but they are a business and need to make their money. One thing I wish they did was sell broken consoles they get in trade or spare parts. That would make my life so much easier than having to order everything online. I’d even pay the higher price on things too just for the convenience.

California Games is definitely superior on the Master System hands down (and I’m a hardcore Ninty fangirl)

Clean the NES connector before you plug in the N8. Dirty contacts or old/bent pins are the #1 cause of issues on Krikzz forum.

Grab a GoodNES or No-Intro set. There are so many dumps floating around and Krikzz does all his testing with GoodNES verified ROMs. Many users swear by No-Intro, which is why I mentioned it.

Good to know. My husband and I cleaned out the connector real well when we brought home the console and we’ve been playing with our friend’s PowerPak and the California Games I just picked up. I have the full NES/Famicom rom set but if mine don’t work with the N8, I can always use the ones you used.

I have the Everdrive GB and I friggin love the thing. I definitely want to get the SNES one next and bring home my SNES and my PS2, XBOX, and Atari 2600. Not sure what got into my husband but he’s been begging me to bring home the consoles from my dad’s so I gotta do this before he changes his mind haha.

Just look at those beautiful ads at the sides of the unit!!!

Great pic, one can even read the instructions on it.

Thanks.

Have you read these reviews? http://gbatemp.net/threads/official-gbatemps-everdrive-month-announcement.368176/

They may give you some great insight into the Everdrive line of Flash Kits.

Always happy to share pictures of the things I come across. I wish I had more than my iPhone to take pictures. I’m sure Digital Press’ Facebook will upload the pictures from the event yesterday.

I haven’t read them yet but I will definitely get on that since I will most likely be adding the rest of them to my collection. The Everdrive GB was such a pleasant surprise. I heard people say that it would be crap and all this nonsense but it turned out to be the easiest flashcart I’ve ever used.

Heh, I almost went there yesterday myself. Didn’t know another Planet VB member lives in Jersey! That’s awesome! I go to that store usually just to look around and for 3DS passes. Their prices are usually on the high end.

Hah! That’s awesome! I actually set up my own streetpass hotspot and I get global passes all the time. I can share the link on how to do it if you’re interested. I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought their prices were a bit high. Great store but definitely easy to burn a hole in your pocket/wallet there.

That’s neat. I usually bring my 3DS around when I travel and to events (like NYCC in 2 weeks). Already have all the puzzle pieces and all the games completed in Mii Plaza so now it’s more of a collect different people from different locations from actually meeting them.

Usually when I go in there, I have fun with the employees and test their knowledge. Not even trying. I just like rare and obscure systems so when I ask for games for those systems, they most often say they have no idea what those are. Kinda funny running a retro game store to not know what a CD-I, 3D0, TurboGrafx, Neo Geo, etc are.
