Is it just me, or have prices risen dramatically on ebay in the past 2 months. I’ve been seeing games that are relatively easy to find going for ridiculous prices. And now, there is a Nester’s Funky Bowling that has almost hit $100!
What happenend? I’ve also seen Virtual Boys going for about $40, for nothing more than the core system; no boxes, games or stands. Now I’m glad that I got mine for $25.
Hehe, I don’t think you’ll have that much fun playing waterworld in particular π it’s a weird game π
Congrats on your purchase though!

I’ve got my eye on this auction, mostly because of that carrying case.My only worry is that the AC adapter has no cord, making it pointless to use.
There’s also several other VB auctions with the box and everything, as well as more games, but no carrying case. I might go for one of those, but I’m not really sure if I should even go for any of them at this point because of my lack of funds right now.
However, some of you are mentioning much cheaper ways to get a VB. I take it you were looking through flea markets or something?
Yeah, I would be the first bidder on that auction, so please don’t raise my bid too much π . The AC tap will work as long as you have a SNES power cable, they are they same thing.
Speaking of cheap VB, I got my first VB thru a flea market for $10, so there are definately cheaper ways to get them. There was no box or game or anything, but if you’re looking for a VB system only, flea markets are probably your best bet. And they are usually a lot cheaper. I got Super Smash Bros for the N64 for $5, and they usually go for like $20 on ebay.
Well, that other auction’s gone…but this one looks promising.
(If only I wasn’t short on money right now…I already promised to buy a hx4700 from someone else to replace/fix my somewhat-iffy one.)

I’ve been looking for a battery pack. All I have is the AC adaptor. Why does everyone want one?
To stop us wasting so much money on batteries.
But if you really want to enjoy 10 minutes of play time, there’s a battery pack on eBay here:

Speaking of battery packs, I wonder if someone can create a lithium-ion battery pack with substantially increased battery life over the 6xAA version and also has a jack for the AC adapter for charging. Best of both worlds!
(Of course, it’ll probably never happen, given how everyone outside of this forum seems to hate it with a passion.)

DogP created a rechargeable battery pack on http://projectvb.vze.com/, but there is no jack to recharge it. Great idea though, I would definately make/buy one.

There is a jack to recharge it… check the last pic: http://www.virtual-boy.org/projectvb/projects/RechargePack.htm . The system isn’t really portable though, so there’s rarely a need to have batteries… there’s pretty much always an outlet nearby.

I want to make one just to reduce the cable tangle somewhat… Honestly, who powers a system through the controller?!? It’s like having a PSU inside your mouse! π
Plus, I have the aftermarket “Performance” adapter and the wire seems really thin and cheap. It could break with enough wear. Plus, it’s permanently attached, so it could break the way cheap headphones always do: at the “strain-relief” end.
Anyone know where to get (or have any extra) free samples of Li-ion monitor/charging chips? I have enough cells from an old laptop pack to make a few of these…
Sparkfun has some cheap chargers: http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/categories.php?cPath=53_54 … the cheaper one uses a MAX1555, and I know Maxim is good about free samples. I believe they’ll only do one cell each, so you’d need to charge each cell seperately, or use two chargers.
