Nintendo has chosen the 6th edition of the “Annual Shohinkai Software Exhibition”, celebrated in Tokyo this past November, to announce the upcoming launch of VIRTUAL BOY: the first virtual reality system developed and produced for domestic use.

Virtual Boy is a system that is not connected to a television. It works with 6 AA batteries. Additionally, among other things, the following accessories will be made available for sale separately: an AC adapter and a rechargeable battery.

They system, based on a 32-bit RISC microprocessor, uses two high resolution LEDs (light emitting diodes) and “mirror scanning” to produce a 3D experience that is impossible to reproduce on a conventional television or LCD screen.

We are talking about a machine that, for a price similar to that of a 16 bit console, will immerse the player in an incredible three-dimensional experience that is enhanced by a powerful stereo sound and a new controller.

This product will be presented at the next CES in Las Vegas in January of next year and will be launched in the United States and Japan in April/May of 95. Three titles will be presented together with the machine and 2 to 3 titles are expected to be released every month.
