Yamane was born in Yamaguchi, Japan in 1968. He is a fan of Japanese comic books, specifically artist Tony Takezaki. After graduating from the Osaka University of Arts, he officially joined Nintendo in 1990, initially working as a Graphic Artist for the Research & Development 1 Division.
