Merry Christmas! Glad I was able to help and contribute!

I suppose I would appreciate an authentication & evaluation period. Considering every previous buggy/fixed version of this game has been wrought with dynamic.

Who can I trust to receive validation before distribution?

pm me

Well that was live screenshot of an active emulator, so I imagine it didn’t catch it all. I was excited it worked.

Hmm the background in your copy looks messed up compared to the rom we are all familiar with.

Figured it out myself, I was using the Retrode Dumper wrong! I hadn’t noticed the slot selector buttons on the side last night!

Tried again today and success! File pulled at 2048KB, no need to pad!

Works perfectly on FlashBoy+

Works perfectly on VBJin emulator

Now what to do with the ROM? Who’s the detective who can dissect the code? If I remember it was Thunderstruck?

LOL yeah having technical difficulties with both the Dumper and the ROM Padder’s

sent some PM’s researching more…

The Padder does not seem to be working on my PC with raw dumped ROM’s. I’ve quickly browsed through the forums and no easy fix seems to work. Can’t get it to work for either an existing cart or the BH!Proto i have

With padromvb padromvb.exe the file size changes but still wont load properly onto FB+. Goes to 25% and stops.

File size is 16348KB

With Padder.win-x64 Padder.exe I get nothing. Through Command Prompt I get an error (photo attached)

Sorry again for delay going to give it a shot tonight.

I will release the ROM after it is dumped AND loaded onto my FlashBoy, which I’ve also never used.

stand by for technical difficulties haha

Two months later; no update? 😕

Apologies for the delay. It has been difficult to arrange a meeting with my associate due to travel obligations.

It is still on the agenda.

Considering how many years it took to get my hands on this cart, a couple months isn’t so bad….

Just a little update. I have the custom cart dumper and a Flashboy+ to test. I am not sure when I can arrange a meeting with my associate, but it will happen.

Big thanks to MineStorm and bigmak for the supplying the necessary equipment.

BTW do you have an FB+ cart ?

I do not have a FlashBoy

I have discussed it with my associate and we are prepared to dump and release this ROM.

We are more interested in preserving and sharing this piece of history than profiting from it’s obscure and potential high value.

The only way this can happen, though, is if the aforementioned custom dumper was shared and sent to me.

Please PM any details to assist.

Hmm, I wonder if this cartridge is the one that this article in Nintendo Power 10/2005 talks about:

Correct.

If you want to dump it, we can send you the community dumper (as I like to call it). It’s an adapted retrode 2 unit.

AFAIK Eric (bigmak) or Ben has it at the moment.

I may be interested in borrowing this device. I will have to carefully discuss this tricky subject with my associate when I get the chance, which is infrequent.

Can the respective parties involved please PM the details?

I have read through all those old BH threads from 2010 & 2013 and do not believe the cart I have has any connection to them or jojobean. It is unclear if he even actually had access to a 100% cart, or was just bluffing.

From some of the reading I’ve done, it seems it could have been around or one just like it. A stand-alone Bound High! cart was rumored to exist and mentioned in a few posts and PMs that were made public.

…a 100% fully working version of Bound High that plays flawlessly on the hardware. I have the only copy of this that I know of. It is dumped from an actual cart and not pieced together from code. So far I have spoken to nobody else who has such a thing. Just finding someone with the cart is near impossible, let alone finding someone to let you dump it. This is definitely the real deal. I can provide a video as proof if you would like.

It would be interesting know if the cart you are representing is one in the same.

All in all, it took almost 7 years from obtaining the source code to finally being able to build a good ROM from it.

Geez, a valiant effort indeed.

I can’t imagine how much work and effort this Dev cart could have saved everyone of it had been around back then…

Is there another finished prototype of this game besides the one I have?

The history of the cart is pretty limited to be honest. At some point it walked out of NOA, that much is certain. May have been passed around, unclear. Then it sat in storage until now, when I asked my associate to let me investigate his old collection. He does not wish to be involved.

I was able to capture from ON to Stage 1. It appears identical to the full YouTube playthrough previously referenced.

An interesting note is that while the PCB says 1995, the in game menu has 1995,1996 Copyright.

In order to get the .AVI under 40960k I had to rush through it hitting start as fast as I could. Sorry, lol, 25sec was too long, but 19sec was fine.

Ok, I put my glitchy VB in the very hot garage for an hour or so and it worked again! I played in there for quite awhile, (while sweating) and noticed no obvious bugs and made it to World 3 Stage 5 on Normal before I got too sweaty and tired awkwardly leaning over the workbench.

It looks like this one [3] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaJ-Ak2XDqQ that KR155E referenced. Not the demo version.

If my VB will continue to function outside an extremely hot room I would like to play more, as I scribbled down the passwords (old habit) and it appears I was most of the way through the game.

I tried, mostly in vain, to take some video through the eyepiece. It’s all pretty crappy, my phone is old and locks up, but I could try again. Is there anything in particular I could attempt to capture that would be especially helpful?
