I see. It makes more sense in that context. But then it would be nice if you added some sort of nice border to it. A picture in the middle of a desktop that is just a static color is so Windows 95. 😛

Here is my attempt at wallpaper. Feel free to use it as your own wallpaper or post it anywhere online! 🙂
If you ask me, that’s unsuitable as a wallpaper because of all the color contrast. It isn’t in the background, like a good wallpaper should be. Any icons in the foreground would be totally lost in the crowded background.
What you could do is reserve an area to place icons in – like add a little transparent layer there. Or lower the contrast or color amount on the entire pic.
Still, it’s a nice collection of game covers. Nice for regular picture viewing, not wallpaper usage. 😛
Thank you for the link, RunnerPack. That is more or less exactly what I was thinking: make the PC run the game, create a screen to render and send it to the VB. That way you could even create the most modern looking games and display it on a VB. Which would be funny but also pretty awesome!
the Wii running through the pc and then the VB displaying the graphics
Wait, this is even crazier. What involvement at all does the Wii have, here? Might as well dump the Wii and have the PC run the game and output it to the VB (as described above)…
I can’t tell much from the one screenshot, but it looks like this may be a Myst/Atlantis style adventure game? That would actually be pretty interesting.
It would be nice if it was done from PC to VB, especially since the Wii is only really there to provide the extra CPU/graphical power (and possibly the remote, but those can work on PCs too).
Thus, I imagine a PC-powered game that uses the VB screen could be very nice. But yeah, that’s pretty crazy stuff. I do wonder what that GL system is RunnerPack mentioned, though…
You better find some rhythm in your release dates. People will stick around and remember your name better that way (in case you want some more views). 🙂
I’m thankful it’s on Virtual Boy because it’s a good game.
Then you’re thankful the game exists rather than it being on the VB. Not dissing the VB, sound-wise I think they made a good choice, it just DOES seem a bit odd since the VB’s 3D prowess doesn’t seem to come into play much. (Note: haven’t played the game.)
I don’t know if you could even call it that. It was just the overhyping of high resolution LCD screens used as TVs, which was bound to happen at some point anyway. You could say it was a completely unnecessary buzz word.
Thanks. In hindsight, it’s probably a better idea to play around with the color adjustment FIRST (perhaps only setting the contrast and brightness) and THEN reduce the amount of colors (if it’s a photo or high-color pic, anyway). It’ll retain some more details, or at least the details you want.
You mean like pictures? Not particularly a “main VB discussion”, but eh. I’ll answer.
Get Irfanview,
open picture,
pick Image > Decrease color depth,
set custom amount of colors to 4 (for a VB effect) (try this both with and without dithering),
pick Image > Color corrections,
Set the G and B sliders to 0 and play around with all the other sliders until it looks good,
Save as PNG for small file size and retaining the image quality.
I can’t really throw the VB into my list yet because I have not actually experienced the real thing yet! (I do like its style and the games though.) But here’s my current list:
– NDS
– SNES
– Wii
– PS2
– PSX
In no specific order!
I’d list more, but these are the consoles I simply spend the most time on playing and finding the most interesting little gems for. I actually love underappreciated but really good games the most.
