Hi Virtual Chris nice to see another face in the VB community. Hope you have fun with your system and this site!

What if for the 5th batch people had to supply a Baseball cart or whatever cart. Then that person would be guaranteed a Flash boy.

Let’s not forget that the Virtual Boy is the second not the first attempt at a 3D system. The first being the Famicom 3D System http://www.famicomworld.com/Doodads/3D_Goggles.htm
only released in Japan. Now with head tracking on the Wii… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jd3-eiid-Uw
Possibilities of there being another 3D peripheral I think are just around the corner. No, Nintendo didn’t make a mistake with VB hell no they didn’t. They made a mistake with how they designed the ribbon cable connections on the inside of the VB however lol 😀 Don’t fear though I believe in the next year or so we’ll see some 3D action concerning the Wii.

I dont think you want nintendo to fix it.. They overprice their repair service.

True but at the very least it would be done right and give it another five to ten years of life “hopefully lol”

While I was repairing my VB I did have similar problems to what you describe. I think it’s most definitely your ribbon cables. Flickering, Dimming, Horizontal lines, One or both screens are dead etc… I wish Nintendo themselves still repaired theses systems.

Well golly gosh gee wilikers… sorry don’t know where that came from. Hi Chrissy. You probably already have looked into it but this site here…

“Awesome site by the way props to DogP” will help you on your quest to fix the unit’s yourself. I fixed mine with the help of a security bit I got on E-Bay here’s a link…

Reading through this topic on the famous Planet Virtual Boy site will help too…

Hope all that helps 🙂 Good luck!

Thanks again guys. I can’t believe I forgot the FDS. Thanks for those pics of the 3D System Deadly-D. I don’t believe that I have ever saw that before

No prob I think this list is an awesome idea. By the time I’m 104 I might actually own all those systems. lol

Theres also the Nintendo Famicom Disk System 🙂

I’m not sure that I’ve heard of that before. I checked Wikipedia, and couldn’t seem to find it. Could you possibly mean the AV Famicom?

Here are some pic’s of the 3D Famicom system courtesy of Famicom World.com

Under Nintendo you still need the Famicom and the Sharp twin Famicom which obviously is made by Sharp. 🙂 Then theres the 3D system for the Famicom but it’s more of an attachment. 3D system is the what it’s called.

I second that! 🙂

Deadly-D stares and drools 🙂

I think for me it’s the nostalgia and technology just like Manicfoot said and that there is no other console that makes you feel like your immersed in the game. The other day I was at Sears department store and the smell of the store reminded me of the first time I ever played Mario tennis on the VB kiosk. Then how I pleaded with my Dad to get me one but with a price tag like that he said “Hell no” I would never have imagined then, that 12 years later I would have 3 of them lol and be part of a great VB site AND that there would ever have been a Flash Cart made for it. Just look at all the other systems in your collection… for real do it. Now look at the Virtual Boy. It just doesn’t seem to belong with the rest of them. It’s, it’s own thing. One single word and an exclamation mark describes everything you could say about it…WOW!

WOOOOOHOOOOO !!!!!!
I Helped somebody fix something!!!!

I think that some of this might be because of the Angry Video Game Nerd vid. He basically just advertised the crap out of the Virtual Boy and now other people are going to want to experience for themselves.

get an electronics duster at radioshack.. Its a can that sprays air and comes with a straw so you can direct the air. (I’ve used it on the cartridges with no problem.)

Sweet Thanks I never think of the simple things!

I can’t believe that he thought that Red Alarm was such a pain in the arse. I think that “in my opinion” it’s the best VB game made! Besides Wario of course. It does kinda suck that it’s all wire frame like it is but isn’t that one of the reasons it’s so cool. I personally didn’t find it that hard to navigate at all. He was right though when he brought up the DOOM example. Come on all you programmers in Planet Virtual Boy bring us the good stuff 🙂 Please lol yeah I make it sound so easy.

How do you clean a VB cartridge?

Ya know after I did the oven trick, I used two adjustable wrenches to squeeze the ribbon, glue and circuit board together. I would let it sit that way for an hour that worked pretty damn good but I still had some hit or miss problems. The same as Fwirt. That night I remember screaming to the moon “Why did Nintendo do something so stupid!!! Why Glue!!!” lol It works now but has small glitch. In Red Alarm for example I see the horizontal lines when I get hit.

I think that’s pretty awesome Edracon!!!
