http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8183919894

i just got a spare head unit, spare copies of teleroboxer and mario tennis…

MARIO CLASH, AND NESTER’S FUNKY BOWLING, FOR LESS THAN $50 TOTAL!!!

I can’t wait!

Oh yeah I just submitted some VB articles from a 1995 issue of VR World, everyone enjoy them once they’re posted!

Yeah, be careful getting used VBs on ebay. Most people don’t tell you that the battery pack isn’t included (just like they say “I can’t test to see if the head unit works or not, I don’t know where the AC adaptor plugs in it”, when we all know it plugs into the CONTROLLER… sigh…).

Mine didn’t come with a battery pack, but fortunately it came with at 3rd party AC adaptor with a REALLY LONG cord! So I’m not complaining!

both prototypes wario and red alarm, buy it now for $200!!?!?!?!

Uh, no.

Nintendo is already insane enough to have 2 portable systems on the market simultaneously. Granted I love both of them, but having a 3rd system that is not a standard console would be suicide. The revolution is simply going to be the follow up to GameCube, that’s it. PS3’s and Xenon’s specs are out and updating, Nintendo just wants to develop what it can for now, then just like Microsoft and Sony they will release specs and them change them every 3 months.

Yes, they have the technology to easily make a new 3d system, but there is basically STILL NO MARKET! People don’t want to be trapped in a box by themselves… there’s just some sort of temporary novelty to it for most people. Many just can’t take it seriously. They need some grip of their surroundings.

Do you see any mainstream 3d peripherals? Nope. i-glasses aren’t even doing well, and they were the closest thing to mainstream. I have shutterglasses for PC. They are the greatest invention since sliced bread but they’re still for a niche audience, and there’s no one company on top raking in the profit. In fact, there’s dozens of companies making them and they basically all do the same thing. Shutterglasses have been around for decades and will never die, but they will most likely never get popular.

If Nintendo wanted to, they could have put the DS into a helmet, added a focus and ipd knob, and make more 3d games. Instead they opted to keep it friendly to the masses.

Do you see mainstream touch-sensitive peripherals? Yup. Loads of people are familiar with PDAs, so Nintendo took a gamble and thought it’d be an original and fun idea to have a touch-sensitive screen. Were there dual screen systems before DS? Sort of. Nintendo Game and Watch LCD games were basically the same design as the DS, and sold quite well back in the 80s.

Have it contacted and wanted to ask let would become said whether ers for a certainly, but it no.. to Endgeld dumpen. It can try however gladly also once, perhaps what offer to the exchange;)

That’s true, just make sure you’re buying one that has an eyeshade. I’ve noticed most that are up for less than 10 bucks don’t. Also, always check your shipping prices…

btw, there’s a ridiculous lot on ebay I saw recently:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3592&item=8140369747&rd=1

that’s a LOT of parts!!! (no pun intended???)

The person who owns the game can be bribed to lending it. I would gladly donate towards the cause of sending hundreds of dollars via paypal to someone to get a game dumped.

Either that, or give gas/food money to a rom dumper-type person to personally travel to a unreleased game owner’s house along with proper equipment to dump the game 🙂

Thanks for the update. Yeah, Space Squash seems much more appropriate a game to pay less than $100 for. I prefer Cosmic Smash on Dreamcast myself 😉

I must have been really tired when I wrote that list to say only $250 for Virtual Bowling!!! Gah!!!

Just wanted to add that I’m in a great mood tonight, because I finally got my copy of Galactic Pinball in the mail today that I ordered months ago… it was WELL WORTH THE WAIT! I’m a pinball addict, and there’s not many more (legal) games for me to collect, so whenever I find an awesome one it gets me that much closer to a state of absolute bliss.

In american funds, here’s approximately what I’ve seen on ebay lately (past few months):

i am not listing demo versions!

New In Box unless specified, US version unless specified (unless Japan only, of course)

3D Tetris – I saw it recently for buy it now at $85
Galactic Pinball – around $12 loose, $25 NIB
Golf – $7
Insmouse No Yakata – $85 buy it now
Jack Bros. – loose around $30, sometimes $40 buy it now
Mario Clash – loose around $20
Mario’s Tennis – $5 loose, box is expensive
Nester’s Funky Bowling – WAY over $100, don’t remember?
Panic Bomber – $8 japanese version
Red Alarm – $12
SD Gundam Dimension War – up to $1000+
Space Invaders Virtual Collection – up to $2000+
Space Squash – $150
Teleroboxer – $12 loose
V-Tetris – $7 or less
Vertical Force – US $25, Japanese $15
Virtual Bowling – $250?
Virtual Boy Wario Land – loose $20, up to $40 NIB
Virtual Fishing – up to $100 or so???
Virtual Lab – $150
Virtual League Baseball – US version $2 or less, Japan $6 (you can always find a lot of 6 or more US VLBs for like $10… it’s sad)
Waterworld USA Ocean – $35-$60 mint in box (this one dropped a LOT recently for some odd reason)

I may be a little off with the rarer titles, but that’s what I’ve seen at some point in time.

I know that those of you in the UK are having a harder time, but search for US sellers who will ship internationally to avoid being ripped off. I’ve noticed UK bids going ridiculous.

the hardware is hilariously priced – $20+ for the AC adaptor mib, head unit (bare) around $10, eyeshade $10+, official headphones $25, the stand i’ve seen go for as much as $30! ???

it seems the best bet to start off is go with a lot, it’s easier because many people look for specific games. I’ve seen some RARE games in lots that don’t end for very much, like system with stand and eyeshade+ac adaptor +hard case +5 commons +Nester’s Funky bowling ended at only around $200 a few weeks ago… I was kicking myself. Some people also don’t list VB under video games (like under toys because they’re idiots), and they go for less sometimes.
I just do a generic search (all categories) for “virtual boy” (in quotes), and “search title and description” checked off. That way you get both the “vintage games” and “other games” sections (where VB stuff is most commonly placed), as well as miscellaneous listings elsewhere.

happy VB hunting…

ebay, usually listed as “eye shade”

expect to pay around 10 bucks plus shipping

if you have the original black plastic rim you could make your own “shade” out of fabric and cardboard, probably.

If Blox ever gets made I guess it will be the first homebrewed, published, and sold game on VB. The homebrew scene on other retro systems is growing like crazy. Anyone see the atari 2600 stuff coming out lately? Skeleton is awesome, it even has stereo sound! 3DO, Sega CD, CDI, Colecovision, and especially Dreamcast are doing really well.

Good Deal Games publishes new games for classic systems, check out http://www.gooddealgames.com

Yes, many folks will gladly shell out good money for a really well-made homebrew, especially on a system that didn’t release a lot of games like VB or Vectrex.

Shutterglasses are amazing now with current refresh rates, the flicker is is basically unnoticable to the human eye if your monitor is above 75 hz (I play at 100 🙂 )

A good site to check out is
http://www.stereo3d.com/shutter.htm

And this is a decent list of pretty compatible games:
http://www.edimensional.com/misc/games.htm

I bought these glasses:
http://www.i-glassesstore.com/3dgaming.html

I was very lucky enough to get them, with a bonus set of 2 wired TV glasses and transmitter, and 3 DVD movies for $80 total at PhillyClassic this year (I can’t really recommend the TV ones, the flicker is unbearable).

The PC ones work great, are wireless, and are flawless with most direct3D/DirectX games (yes, you could even get them to work with Playstation emulators)

if you have a NVIDIA graphics card it works extremely well, but if you don’t, you need a glidewrapper or something that is apparently VERY glitchy.

Enjoy!

it just ain’t gonna happen. They’re already gambling with the DS, and 3d has always had a niche audience (although a DS in a different “box” would basically be a color 3d system, placing one screen in each eye). I love 3d gaming, I wouldn’t sell my shutterglasses for anything (playing gta3 in 3d rules!!!!). The virtual boy is fun, but something like it could not and will not ever become mainstream ANYTIME soon.

face the facts, there just isn’t a big enough audience of people who will pay to strap something on their head or place their head in front of something to play a game or watch a movie. People are lazy, they want to “walk into a room and see entertainment”. People are scared of virtual reality in small boxes on their heads, but have no qualms about walking into a small room with a tv in it, they also have no problem wearing 3d glasses. I dunno what’s wrong with people. I know there is something wrong with me because i’ve spent all night looking at VB stuff online when I should be sleeping… i have class today.
