Wow, kudos to you for trying to hardwire everything with individual cables. Looks like quite a labor intensive repair thus far. If it’s not working after all that, it seems like you might not be able to turn back. Your best bet might be finding new led/ribbons on eBay and having someone on here solder them for you…or you might also find some useful info on this thread if you’d like to try it yourself. DogP outlined some useful tips on post #170: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3295&viewmode=flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=160

My most expensive game was Virtual Lab, which I purchased just over a year ago through a Japanese proxy service. After currency conversions, proxy fees along with shipping/insurance, it cost me just over $600. That is still a decent price for that title considering its great condition and how rarely it shows up.

…It also helped that everyone else from this community was nice enough not to bid against me since they knew of my interest. 🙂

That makes it the single most expensive purchase in my entire collection.

If you don’t know what an ActionMax is, it’s a console you hook up to your VCR and the games come on VHS tapes.

Let me know if you’re interested.

Sounds interesting. If I only had a VCR…

Could anyone take a nice high-res picture or scan? the label somehow?

I took a scan and attached it as a .pdf along with a lower resolution MSPaint file. I hope this helps!

Edit: You may need to do some slight color corrections or blend out the reflections of the hairline scratches. This was the best of several attempts.

Man, I’m going to need a new display case for all these things. Although, this will also get me that much closer to justifying an upsized display cabinet with the wife! Can’t wait to add this to the collection!

Awesome work! Flawless!

Those are sweet! I think I just found the new logo for my VB binders. Those would also look pretty slick on a T-shirt… *cough* *cough*

🙂

I recently had the good fortune to stumble upon a boxed soft case reincarnated as a 32-Bit System Transporter. It’s history is explained here: http://www.planetvb.com/modules/hardware/?type=accessories&sec=main&id=8

Boxed soft cases are pretty tough to find, but I’ve never seen one of these variants for sale until this one surfaced…and trust me, I’ve been looking. Even though the warranty card is the only thing that mentions the Virtual Boy, I thought it was still an interesting item considering the history.

I added some scans of the back and sides to help update what little info there is on this thing.

HA! At first, I thought that was just a mirror image, but no. That is ton of games and it makes for hell of a photo.

Reminds me of a lobster tank. They look so innocent just sitting there but have no idea of their true purpose…

Got mine today! I don’t ever remember having such clear images. Finally, no more baking these in the oven…

Thanks again for your charitable work and for giving new life to my displays.

Just received my box and peripherals. As always, the box, manual, and artwork were all superb. The hint book is also especially interesting and a very nice compliment to the entire package. I’m very impressed and cant imagine a better result.

It’s nice to see a few more branches on the VB family tree. Thanks again to everyone who put forth the time, effort, and money to make this happen.

I’m in sort of a gray area. I call myself a collector because I’ve amassed a huge assortment of games and systems over the years. I also make the effort to buy clean/complete games. http://home.roadrunner.com/~dpsx7/main.html

Yet I’m not one of those crazy people who needs everything sealed.

Great collection with a lot of variety!

…but watch who you’re calling crazy… 😛

Oh snap!

*Edit*
I just got the error with the shipping calculator again like with BLOX. I’m going to PayPal you direct like last time. Let me know if that’s enough to cover shipping.

P.S. WOOHOO! 😀

Like John E Bravo, I too recall a pair of those glasses going for over $90 with bidders battling it out last year, so there are a lot of someones out there willing to pay for those things. Before I found mine, I messaged every seller that had that issue of Nintendo Power for sale, but every single one of them sounded like they had no idea what I was talking about. For months I searched. Luckily, mine finally came when I bought the full 1995 run as a bundle. Then I got another pair, and another until I had 5 sitting around. Seems like the first one was the hardest, then I couldn’t get rid of the spares fast enough.

I say, dream for the stars. Maybe some Richie Rich type who was deprived as a child will simply BIN instead of wasting the time to research or hope a cheaper one turns up. It’s more likely, some schmuck like myself, will decide to take up VB collecting and start grabbing everything he or she can as fast as they can and won’t be able to find one of these. When all other options are exhausted, the best offer option becomes more attractive and prices rise.

Besides, now that Jack Bros. has sold for over $800 four different times in the past 10 months, I’d say anything is possible.

While I was setting up to take the photo of my collection I noticed that my VB stand is around the wrong way. The ends point towards the user. I’ve never noticed before but it got me thinking.

So first I decided to try and put it on the other way. To put it the “correct” way. However the mount doesn’t work if I try to turn it around. The 2 plastic pegs in the stand seem to not sit into the holes on the underside of the VB.

Then I started looking online and there seems to be a mix of images showing the stand going either way. Even on here I’ve seen the stands different.

Am I just being too gentle with my VB or is there a real reason why the stands are different?

Also which way does your stands point?

You’re being too gentle with your VB. The “official” way is with the medallion facing the user, like the JP counter models which use the factory stand. My VBs all go on their stands backwards easier than frontwards for some reason. This is why I think most infer that it must be the right way. However, with the medallion facing the user, the VB can be positioned closer to the edge of the tabletop for a more natural experience. The weight also seems more balanced (…maybe that’s just my OCD affecting my perception?). Mine always have the medallion facing me. Always!

There are a lot of printed materials such as, pamphlets, magazine ads, and most importantly, the user manual, all of which show the medallion towards the user. For me, that last one trumps all the naysayers and their Google/images with backwards stands.

There will still be those who prefer the other way around. For instance, left-handers might also benefit from a backwards stand as the tightening knob will then be on their dominant side. I say use whichever way floats your boat as long as it doesn’t fall over. 🙂

Just received my copy today and am once again blown away. I can’t believe I’m holding a completely original homebrew cartridge AND an official box with manual! What a gift! I never thought I’d see the day, yet here we are. I’m excited! Can you tell?

Nice addition! That’s great stuff! Thanks for taking high res photos, too. I’d like to one day add a proto to my collection, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. In the meantime, I’ll just add this post to my favorites… 🙂

I’m with Ben. I’d love to have all 4, but I only have the two small counter displays. I likely won’t have the opportunity to acquire the others either, lest I get kicked out of the house. :/

PM’d. Hope there’s some room left in your generous offer! 🙂

…one can only imagine why the five 20-piece boxes were removed and/or sold separately, apart from the 20 CIB games that were in them.

Some nerd like me probably asked them for the boxes for their collection. Either that or they used them to ship something else…let’s hope the latter is not the case! :'(

I almost want to buy the one with the horrid lable just so I can finally read the dialogue… but no.

“..but no.” <- Makes me laugh! I still go through the same internal debates when I see these auctions. "No" usually wins that battle... 😛

Yeah, the exceptionally high price for a sealed Jack Bros. is the primary reason why it is the only sealed North American VB game that I do not have in my collection. It is still possible to get a CIB Jack Bros. in very good condition for $200 to $300 on Ebay. So when you look at it from the proper perspective, if you purchase a sealed Jack Bros. for $1,000.00, you are essentially paying $700.00 for an official plastic wrap.

Just giving you a heads up on the expected price you’d need to pay to get it. I’m pretty sure I also saw a sealed Jack Bros. sell for $800 after the aforementioned one. Basically, if you ever see a Buy-It-Now for a sealed Jack Bros. that is under $1,000.00, you pretty much have to snag it up right away or it’s gone forever. And it is true, you will find more complete copies of Virtual Bowling available for sale than you will ever find sealed copies of Jack Bros.

I agree with Ben on both counts, but I’m the kind of person that likes to pay for factory wrappers! If you find a sealed copy of Jack Bros., grab it! I watched two exceed $1,000, then the $800+ one, then another one popped up with a “Buy it Now” for $500 and was gone in two days. I haven’t seen another one since….other than mine, of course! (but I didn’t pay nearly that much) 🙂

I’ve been tracking these as well so I can average fair market value for insurance purposes.
